Unfortunately I haven't seen their swords either. Some of my favorite swords are from the Final Fantasy series.

I've seen it. When you look for action piece that you don't want  to think about much go for it... But when you start thinking about SnK (Shingeki no Kyojin is original title) it get's bad fast. Also author admitted that he ripped one of my favourite novel series to write it...

The tv shows I've been watching lately are mostly on abc and the cw (if you want to be more specific, Marvel's Agents of Shield, and The Flash). What is your favorite novel series.

Well as someone from bookselling and publication I do not have exactly the favorite series but there are series I appreciate in their respected genre (though to be simple for people rather than to explain I call them favorite series). The one I was talking about belongs to "Alien invasion to Earth" sub-genre and is a series called Muv Luv. It has slow start in Extra/Unlimited part but when you get to Alternative it has everything you could ever ask for if you like military, mecha and political plotting. Action,  romance, Mankind on a verge of destruction while fighting for survival it actually is still fight with each other, and some crazy Quantum physics and multiverse science...
One author that especially struck my strings is Tom Clancy. His combination of Political background for story packed with current (or almost current) detailed technology while basically still being about soldiers (I'd recommend Rainbow Six, Op-centre or Net Force series). Also the sheer volume of books he wrote... From top of my head I can think only of David Weber with the amount of books in a series.
Then it's Tolkien. I love the detailed history of Middle earth it is a living word in it's own right.
Issac Asimov for his work in robotics and stories that include his own rules bend in one way or another. Like if he wanted to see how much the rules he made can take and how far they can go.
Terry Pratchett- Best humor around. 'nuf said.
Philip Pullman His Dark Materials- I like how dual the story is. You can read it as a struggle of a kid in a world but also as something more... Something that forces you to think about religion (especially the last book).
David Weber and his Honor Harrington series is a stories of Naval warfare... With broadsides, monarchies and everything... Just in space.
Kawahara Reki was intriguing to me for a simple reason: Full Dive virtual reality and MMO addiction. I would love to have FDVR interface and there was a time when I was a hardcore MMO player so I can associate well with the characters.
... ... ... I might have overdone this a bit... ^^

I've read books and stories by Tolkien and Asimov. I've heard of Clancy and Weber, but I've never read their texts. The others I don't know, but they look interesting. I actually plan on trying literature for my career as a Freelance author. I understand that I will have to come up with a stable financial base before I take some of the more riskier actions of being an author. I'm in college and studying Literature for my major right now. However, I'm still a young man and in the beginning stages of becoming an independent adult.

Good luck with both.
From what I know it's somewhat easier to become an independent author in the US than it's here. Basically on domestic market we have like one author that actually writes so successfully for writing to be his only job. Though even him it became possible after several movies based on his book rolled out.

Thanks.
I think I will be working before relying on writing as a career. I recently got out of high school and I still live at home, but I'm taking college early to develop some skills for becoming an adult. Most of the inspiration I've gained was from one of the local authors in my state, Christopher Paolini, who wrote Eragon and the rest of the Inheritance cycle.

As someone "from the business" I know a couple of things about Paolini. Basically he's not much skilled as an author. His whole series has too much borrowed elements from other successful fantasy (and fantasy-sci-fi). The fame of the series is artificially brought up because when his parents who conveniently are book publishers printed the first edition he went around the conventions and such and was reading the book. I am not saying it is not a popular series I am saying that it is mediocre for all the hype it actually created. Also the whole "farmer boy becomes a knight in shining armor rescuing the princess" theme (in this case a prominent elf) is a card played too much as an opening. Verdict: I don't mind it and it is surely better quality than sparkling vampires, but that doesn't mean it's as good as Sapkowski, Pullman or Tolkien.

I'm not saying his books are the best, but I still like them. I think he was 15 when he wrote Eragon. I've actually met the author twice and have all four books signed (well, the signed Eragon copy is my brother's but still...). I still read them from time to time, and I find it easier to appreciate the books when you've met the author. It was mainly because of him that I want to be an author. I've met a few other authors as well, like the authors for Three Cups of Tea (a controversial book, but he lives in my hometown), and The Life of Pi (which I also have a signed copy of). I've even met B. J. Novak, who not only wrote the children's book, "The Book with No Pictures," but also plays as Ryan Howard in The Office.

Well aside of David Weber I personally never met anyone of the inter-national scale maybe except Michal Wievegh.
I understand from where you're coming from and I almost completely agree. One thing you get from meeting the author is that you can get both insight of him as well as ask obnoxious questions about some detail of "page 268 of 4th book third paragraph second line from the top" that lays heavily on your mind and ask for clarification.
It reminds me a lot of performing. Theatrical one to be more specific because there are times when you have to explain people why you play it the way you do or why you created your character the way you did. In that case you can be like David and may explain everything in detail though it might take an hour... or four. Or just explain in one or two sentences... Or ust say you felt like it (well not publicaly at least).

I have a feeling that might happen to me if I because famous from writing books. Imagine how many people would love to go back in time just to meet Tolkien or Shakespeare (if time travel does get developed in the future, Shakespeare might know). When ever I meet someone well known for their book or performance, I often don't know what to tell them or ask them.
