Description Roof top near Sky Harbor Airport I was up working on this morning

There are two buildings with a metal awning bridging the gap between them that runs about 50 yards/ 45.7 meters

I should have mentioned that the spike like device in the center is part of a lightning arrestor setup. there are over 125 of these spikes around the roof perimeter and down the center as well.  And I suppose to insure their effectiveness they are extremely pointy which all things considered fits with everything else out here in the desert

Took me a while to realize this wasn't looking up the side of a building.

Very cool shot!

Doesn't even look like a roof!

Working on roofs...I couldn't do that. Well, I could, as long as I wasn't anywhere close to the edge, or anywhere which had a slope down to the edge. I don't have a fear of heights, so much as a fear of falling from them, in particular the moment where you stop falling. I could be dangling out over the edge of a cliff if I'm restrained and know I'm not likely to fall. But I couldn't just stand there without becoming totally freaked out, I can't even stand on a step ladder unless it's really well secured.

I used to be leary for the first couple of minutes but now, after being up on roofs so much, I hardly notice the height any more.

Though on some of the steeper residential roofs I look to see if they or the neighbors have a pool in case I slide off. Haven't had to try it so far but I figure the pool would make a better landing spot than the gravel yard.

On really steep roofs we have safety lines we tie off with. Cumbersome but handy as hell when you loose your footing and that Spider-Man trick doesn't work

I guess it's like a form of exposure therapy (is that the right term?). You just get used to it.

And no, I wouldn't want my final thought to be "oh, yeah...I'm not actually Spider-Man, am I?" Falling into a swimming pool...that I could do. And I actually think I'd be quite OK on the steep roofs with a safety line, more so than on a flat roof without one.

The distance seems to appear farther than in reality, I suspect it's caused by the plain blandness of all that white

I like the vanishing point, it seems quite symmetrical.

Had to lay down on the roof to get a good angle

Had a coworker on the other roof and as I started shooting pics he jumps over the wall and starts yelling if I was okay. He's a great kid, ruined a few shots, but a great kid nonetheless.

It's a weird looking roof when you look across to the other side. Unfortunately the camera didn't quite capture the odd optical effect of the horizontal lines. Probably because it was noticeable only when you were walking across to the other side.
