And they are huge too... That cloud formation is over 36 miles away. If you look under them you can just make out the South Mountain range at the southern most edge of Phoenix. The clouds did make it sort of over that range but that's where it hits that heat island and moves it off to either the east or west of the city. We didn't get any rain up here in the north and by 8pm it was all gone
