Description I've had this lovely photo sitting around on my computer just waiting to be drawn!

Yeah this isn't a speedpaint. Took a bit of my time at the end, and taking several breaks bumped me over 2.5 hours.

I think I figured out a good workflow for rocks (finally!)
Lasso tool is once again my best friend.

Dig those crazy textures!

Thankies! ;; u ;;

Yes! As of late I've drawn the line between my "real media" and "Texture" brushes.
Real media as in brushes that look like traditional painting (Used in the rocks)
Texture as in those little scratchy mostly transparent brushes (used in the foreground)
Getting these all figured out has helped me a lot

oooooh! I haven't used a lot of real media brushes, but texture brushes totally seem like a lot of fun! I definitely wanna do more speedpaints when I get a chance, but I'm sort of booked until like february at least....orz;

Yes! I'm happy to say, organizing my brushes based on function was a great idea.
ah I know that feeling, I will be quite busy too xD

Dazzling reflection effects! I think being able to see up close how you used practical digital tricks while stepping back to behold the gorgeous creation is quite a feat. It's almost a new form of Impressionism...

Very well said! That's what I aim for with my digital paintings. I really dig that impressionist painterly quality.

whooaAA I'm really digging the weird hue/sat jitter brush strokes in the foreground. What a brilliant way to render ripples!

Yeah I always had difficulty using that one. Because it's so... finicky. But I've come to love using it for midtones that need a bit of texture!
Yesss never underestimate the smudge tool my friend. It comes in handy.

I'll have to keep that in mind. It's one of those settings I was REALLY EXCITED ABOUT when I first got photoshop, then it turned out to be completely useless. (cough plastic wrap cough)

ohh and I am learning the ways of the smudge tool.Β  It's like dodge and burn, so readily shunned, but powerful in moderation.

by the way, have you ever had much luck with the mixer brush tool in CS6?

Hahaha... plastic wrap.
It's also one of Zedig's brushes. (Brushpack numbah two ! )
He's just- A BOSS of an artist.. Imo.

Yes! And I know a lot of great artists that use it. Great in moderation and/or if you know what you're doing with it.

Hmm There is this Β cool thing you can do with it that saves time on 3D forms.
Β (I used it to make the cord in theΒ Yaz and Nova videogame drawing--->Β Gamer Bros )
But... at unpredictable times, it does crash my computer. So I use it very sparingly.
