This picture actually inspired me to do her temple for a project in my geography class. Lot of research to do.

I don't know why... but her design makes me think a little of the DCU's Kole.

Wasn't she connected to the Olympians / Titans, in her lore? Or am I thinking of Lilith Clay / Omen [Who I *know* was, until that got reassigned to Donna after Crisis on Infinite Earths]

Love the overall look, but I'm not sure which is my favorite: the detail work in her choker or the gladiator sandals.

So Roysovitch or Steelpoodle , I'm assuming she's the Oracle of Delphi

Yes, she is.

In NeOlympus, every temple has an "oracle", which is a young female sensitive to the supernatural whose abilities are enhanced through narcotics in order to invoke prophetic vision. But the Temple of Delphi has Pythia who is THE Oracle, the most powerful and accurate of these soothsayers. Pythia is a "heroic" soul but due to the manner in which her powers cause mortals to die within three to ten years of receiving her power and the gods' need of Pythia's counsel, she follows a peculiar reincarnation method. Instead of going to the Underworld to receive her judgment and earn her reward or punishment before re-entering the Well of Souls, Pythia is bound to the tribe of Delphi and upon her death, the priests of Delphi sacrifice a willing maiden of their tribe to the gods, having her drink from a cup of hemlock. Upon the maiden's death, Pythia's soul enters the body and reanimates it and the sacrificed maiden is given a thousand years of paradise in the Underworld for her service to Elysium. Once she is reanimated, Pythia symbolically marries the Pantheon of Olympus and gets to work. Like I said, the sheer potency of Pythia's gifts ravages the minds of its hosts and most women are only able to serve as Oracle for three to ten years before their sudden death from brain hemorrhages.

How long is an Oracle lifespan who doesn't have Pythia's power and potency?

Varies depending on their overall health and the level to which they intoxicate themselves frequently. Most start at between the ages of fifteen and twenty-five. Most die between the ages of thirty and thirty-five. Ten to fifteen years is pretty average. Very few Oracles make it to forty, but in NeOlympus, which is in an industrial revolution, the life expectancy is only fifty on average.

Do the other Oracle's get the same deal Pythia does, or is it just straight to judgement and wait to hopefully be reincarnated?

Roysovitch In reply to AzureVirgo [2017-08-03 16:18:42 +0000 UTC]

Pythia is unique among both mortal and heroic souls. Everyone else goes through the usual reincarnation cycle of death, judgment, punishment/reward, and back to the Well of Souls. As heroes and monsters are needed to stabilize the cosmology of Elysium, their punishments and rewards are cut shorter than typical mortals, getting them back into the cycle quicker but they have the luxury of not having their soul cleansed and thus once they reach the "age of enlightenment" (13), they regain their past memories, skills, powers, traits, and identity; a luxury or a curse that mortals do not share.

Where did you find the reference for her choker, or was that a Phil original design

Have you seen Greek sculptures?

No, but in all seriousness, Pythia lives on Delphi which in NeOlympus is an island that is strangely warm despite being so far North. It's so warm that the tribe that lives on it like to say they've been blessed by Apollo for their dedication to him; but in truth, they should be thanking Hephaestus as it's the volcanic activity beneath the island that keeps it so incredibly warm year-round.
