Couldn't decide which version I preferred black and white or coloured, so made 3 versions for the hell of it. Don't often do celeb portraits but decided to have a go at Mr Bowie, I used to be quite the fan back in the day, reference was from a Lord Snowden portrait taken in 1979. I've asked a few people if they can recognise who it is and they generally do, though one did say it was Ronnie Corbett! he was joking ( I hope) so it can't be that bad. The far right picture reminds me of early music video technology so added it for fun. Β Β
I used graphite and colour pencils with charcoal on A4 paper. I also experimented with tints and hues using gimp and picasa.Β

btw I never was a huge fan of Bowie - but I loved him in Labyrinth

I know when it first came out it was rather unappreciated, but became very popular on home video over the years. I suppose it was a poor period musically for Bowie compared to his older work and people were scratching their heads thinking why is he doing this? Having said that its crazy popular now (Labyrinth) so what do I know?
