Description  Korra's connection with her previous lives getting severed was like an arrow through my heart.  I have a serious love-hate relationship with this plot twist.  On one hand, it's fitting that it would take that much to defeat the literal spirit of evil, and it's the ultimate step in her spiritual journey for her to realize she has power beyond being the avatar.  Even when she was stripped of everything that made her "special," her true strength came from her own spirit and was enough to save the world... it's a beautiful message.

But still, losing over 10,000 years of past lives and memories would be a pretty traumatic type of loss...a loss Korra herself might not even fully understand.  That's like 100 souls you were intimately connected to just suddenly...wiped out.  (Korra's grief probably doesn't compare to Raava's.)   Korra seemed pretty withdrawn after defeating Vatu, and the last time Korra was this quiet was when she was scared of Amon, so I think she's actually grieving the losses pretty hard...

So can't Raava just restore the connection?

In other words, I've figured out if I take notes with my left hand during all of my classes, my right hand is better off for drawing later.   XD I feel like I'm cheating or beating the system...and if I get better at drawing with my left hand too, then I'll be able to draw twice as much... (Although I doubt I'll have the time for that.)

I'm off to go rebury myself under my textbooks.  It's a never ending cycle...

My thoughts exactly!  I'm just waiting for that 'aha' moment to come like when Aang restored Korra's bending.

I REALLY need that to happen!  I mean, Raava has to remember their spirits, and since she's like an uber powerful spirit...well, I think she'd be able to find them again...

But really, though!  I suppose you could justify that since she was destroyed, her old "memories" were, too... But then again, didn't she say she could never be completely destroyed?  SOOoooOOoo...?

And if nothing else, where are the spirits of all the other avatars?  Roku's spirit and Aang's spirit exist somewhere in the spirit world, it seems.  They could come together and give the longest lecture of history.

So her memories are totally still floating out there somewhere, waiting to be found!

Yeah! And then if all the spirits can go to earth now, they can all just hang out there...and there will be like 100 avatars...

I never thought about that.  Omg.  That'd be pretty intimidating, having Avatar Kyoshi staring you down while you break the law. xD But I wonder hwo many spirits will actually be willing to live among the humans, the way the world is now.

Hmm...I wonder...I feel like the Avatar spirits would feel a greater attachment to the world, like their duty wasn't yet complete.  (Kinda why I imagined they stuck around giving Raava and Aang and Korra advice for so long.)  Then again, maybe they'll be like, "Dude, I've protected the world and its shit for far too long.  Peace!"  And fly off into whatever happens after death in avatar.  XD

I most certainly wouldn't break the law with Kyoshi hovering over me.  O O  It makes me wonder what would happen if different avatar spirits got into disagreements about what people in the world should do.  XD 100 avatars all trying to control the fate of the world...

I think avatars would remain on the side of good because of that great responsibility they had when they were alive.  And of course, I would hope that they're still willing to aid Korra in person since she can't call on them anymore.

(Did she call on them, or was it literally just thousands of memories that sometimes floated to the surface as if she was talking to them?  Or both?  Example: Aang and Avatar Roku. Was that real-time or just deep past life memories?)

If the avatars feuded, I think it would be almost as bad as Vaatu.  They have great influence in the spiritual world.

I agree...but I wonder if they would all agree on what was best for the world?  I mean, the four avatars before Aang all told him killing Ozai was the only way, and Aang decided to follow his own judgement... There's always been one "active" avatar, so it makes me curious as to what would happen if they all were in control/had some measure of power.

I'm tempted to say that it's probably real-time, since they seem to respond to current events happening in the world (IE. Aang communicates with Korra mostly via memories in season one, but when he returns her bending, he actually has a conversation with her...which I guess is like having a conversation with yourself?)

It would make for an epic season.    And it would make you wonder where the lines of "good" and "evil" are really drawn...if people who are trying to do good can sometimes make evil decisions and vice versa....

We should just write the next season.  XD

OOoo, good point!  I never considered that!  But it just shows that though they've become one spirit through Raava, they're still individuals.  Yes, yes!  If all of them had some measure of power, I think we would be in another apocalypse.  But I don't think avatars are so unreasonable to basically undo what they spent their lives doing over 10,000 years...

Seems a bit too confusing.  Let's just call it inception before we drive ourselves crazy figuring that one out, lol.  If you're me, and I'm me, are there two of mes, or are you you, which is just a small part of me?  Or am I you??

I think the line of good versus evil will never be so explicit like it was at the end of this season ever again.  (Come on, the spirits of good and evil basically had an all-out war.)  All other main characters outside of the Korra and Aang gangs have been anti-heroes-- Zuko, Jet, the Earth Kingdom commander; Varrick, Desna and Eska.  And so on.  So it wouldn't be a new thing at all.

I would hope not!  But it would certainly be interesting to have 100 different people attempting to create their version of "balance."  They might unintentionally wreck things for another avatar...

XD Oh my.  My head hurts now... It brings up the question that if Korra and Aang are the same soul, and can be so individualistic, what's a soul?  What makes them the same being, even outside of Raava?

That's true...we have had a lot of anti-heroes.  XD I feel like it would be different if it was the avatar though, since they're supposed to be the shining example of good and true.

I think Korra and Aang are individuals because they lived their own lives (and came from other parents obviously, lol)... But perhaps it's the will of Wan being passed on to those Raava seems worthy?...
So this is how theories begin. xD

You could say that some avatars were anti-heroes. I would call Kyoshi one in some aspects.
