Description Phil: Experimentation out of nowhere! Hm... just doesn't have the same ring as an R.K.O. Anyway... what's this about? Well, I've hinted at this in previous Scrap work but essentially I want to try and add a bit of realism to some of the scenes I create. Mainly this focuses on when two bodies come into contact with each other.
Phil': Oo-er....
Phil: Not that sort of body. Well... in most cases.... In what I've been trying to do it is mainly when a character is sitting on the sofa or similar circumstances. Basically to give an illusion of interaction and weight to the model.
Christie: Sounds like fat shaming.
Rachel: Yeah.
Christie: I can't juggle you in the air for very long, so it seems to be more aimed at you...

I've mainly tried to approach this using a soft body physics approach, which has only worked in very limited scenarios for me - though I believe it should technically make the most sense. Then there's the manual approach of essentially editing the mesh at the point of interaction as my most recent attempts have focused on. After a while the idea of trying to get one mesh to conform to another mesh came to mind. Cue Google. I came across the Shrinkwrap modifier which is what I used here. For this little bit it does seem to work well. I think I will have to play around with it a bit more to see if it will really do what I want though.

Today's experiment... somewhat successful.
