~MakogeddonHe asked me not to show his version because it's so old, that it gives him the douche chills.
His version also happens to resemble too much like Hank from Madness Combat (specifically number 5 and onwards)

At first I didn't like the new weapon design, but then I saw that they essentially look like two random knives duct-taped onto a pole along with the scythe part, which is actually awesome because it gives it a DIY-feel rather than another generic anime weapon that no blacksmith would ever forge in his right mi- oh wow I just noticed how stupid the proportions of the weapon was in my version. This one actually looks like someone could feasibly wield it. A few things don't really match him, but that's ok because you had no way of knowing what kind of character he is. I barely even know.
If I ever get around to using this character for anything, I might make some small changes to this design, but for the most part this looks cool. I think the main problem I have with this is that it doesn't really resemble the original very much, but that's kind of a stupid problem to have with it because I specifically told you to make it look different from the original so nevermind, then. A complete overhaul rather than a minor redesign definitely works better for him. He also looks like more of a badass assassin in this one, so all in all, good job.

Yep. I figured since his attire looks modern, it'd be more plausible if he swung around a homemade looking weapon instead of something that belongs in a medieval fantasy.
So what exactly is it that bothers you about this design? Which part doesn't match his character?

I'm actually not entirely sure. It might be something about the trench coat being gray, or maybe his visor, or something. I actually think the visor looks cool, but something about his clothes reminds me of another character, and I don't really know which character I'm thinking of. I feel like I've seen something similar to this before, and subconsciously the thing I'm thinking of doesn't really match him, but until I can remember what it is I don't actually see any visible problems.
In short, your design does actually match him, but I feel like it resembles the design of someone else, and that someone else is nothing like Jack. I'm basically rambling on about nothing, here.

Hm...that grey was supposed to be just a lighter shade of black. The visor is really just orange sports shades.
You still sound like you're in a real dilemma about his design.

I know I do, I have a bit of a problem with showing where my opinion lies on things, both in real life and on the net. Trust me, though, I like what you did with him. I actually really doubt I'll ever do anything with my characters anytime soon, so hopefully by the time I decide on something I'll have the skills and knowledge necessary to fix whatever the underlying problem is, here.
I'm not really in a dilemma, I'm just annoyed by the fact that my mind can't seem to remember... whatever it is I'm trying to remember right now. It's probably nothing, but the tip-of-the-tongue feeling won't seem to go away.

Much better in my opinion. In yours I actually didn't realize he was black, but then I looked at his and automatically thought "blade with a ninja mask"
I also like the two spikes you added on the back of the crescent.

Who knows, maybe he's some other dark skinned ethnicity.
Yeah, I felt that side was lacking.
