Mari is the oldest child of an experienced programmer and an administrative assistant, she always lived in Midorijima with her parents and younger brother. Her father is among one of the many programmers and coders who work for GO Entertainment in various projects. He brought his career home a lot and it was the reason for Mari to start to become close to computers, enjoying coding and digital life since an early age.
  Mari started playing RHYME with her father as soon as she was the legal age of thirteen, but before that she had watched him play the game around the neighborhood. It awed her how someone could have so much fun in a virtual manmade build world, and soon those virtual games she played became her passion, and later on her career path. Mari wanted to create her own game, a virtual world where people could have fun and meet each other, or maybe she could help develop RHYME. That’s when her parents purchased her allmate, Pharaoh, becoming more of a friend than a gaming prop for the girl.
  When she was fifteen Mari, inherited her father's old computer and used it to play with it and learn about computers. She started with how to program with lessons from his own father, and an after school computer club she joined. Absorbed in her hobby, she started doing errands for her parents for a small pay every week, she even started on small part time jobs, using the money she earned to buy computer pieces and build her own custom one. Her curiosity never stopped as her rough, self-taught skills developed slowly with the help of her father.

During her childhood Mari used to hang around with the kids form her class and neighborhood, but as she started to grew up Mari became more and more absorbed in her hobby. Slowly her social skills began to drop, and her ability to make friends reduced to the ones she could make online. Mari tried her hardest to keep her in real life friends with her, trying to teach them the same things she was so enthusiastic about, but only a very little few stuck with Mari over the years.
  After a long time of wasting money, time and efforts, Mari built her dream computer with the support of a handful of loyal friends and a loving family. But that dream didn’t last long. When Mari was seventeen some hackers broke into her computer, damaging it's core beyond repair with harmful customized virus. Masato, Mari's father, found out in an online forum more cases of hacking with the same consequences his daughter experienced, and with the rest of affected users, they reported the incidents to the police. Further investigation revealed it was all a prank from a group of college students who were too bored. This incident left a big impression on Mari, changing her point of view about everything that surrounded her, even her career choice.
With the little money she had left, and the support from her friends and family, Mari was able to rebuild her computer. She was angry, and scared that such a thing could happen again, and thus she began to search for different ways to protect what she appreciated the most from harmful users. Feeling enraged by this social imbalance, Mari strived to protect what she had and what she believed important and good. Mari started by learning, learning all she could about those issues before speaking about them, taking part on internet social justice movements on social networks, spreading true and valuable information about them and soon enrolling into Computer Science at college, majoring into Informatics Security.

  What Mari did not expect from her constant look for information, was that she was now the hacker hungry for knowledge that loomed over people before letting them get closer to her. The only times Mari leaves her computer for a really long time are for attend to college, buy new computer components or play RHYME to relieve stress. Although recently with the new players teaming rule, Mari began to use RHYME for meeting new people outside the screen of her computer and socialize with them in a real life setting. Thanks to that, Mari is starting to have friends of her age with whom she can spend the time on and offline.

PHARAOH (ファラオ)ALLMATE

His personality was something Mari’s parents chose for her, creating an allmate that complimented their daughter to the perfection. Keeps her company all the time, head resting on her lap when she is on the computer, or simply chilling on the sofa she has on the basement. Pharaoh is the one that takes Mari out of her concentration state, and is the first that gets startled when the girl laughs alone in front of her screen.
Relationships:
  Yamauchi Masato (father, 50) - Programmer. One of the closest persons to Mari. Her father and mentor, Masato tries to teach his daughter all he knows about coding and programming. Encourages Mari to be better in her interest and not give a damn about if its a “boys job”.
    Yamauchi Sara (mother, 48) - Administrative assistant. A calm woman that doesn't understand the fascination her husband and daughter have for computers and internet. She doesn’t understand, but supports them by making them midnight snacks when they play tournaments or simply stay up late debating.
    Yamauchi Haru (younger brother, 16) - Student at Narashino High. In good terms with his older sister, often teases her for not showering in days when she is concentrated with her “computer things”. More like his mother, he is calm and reserved, really intelligent and wants to pursue a medical career. Often goes to Mari for advice and sometimes keeps her company in their parents basement.

  Pharaoh - The positive counterpart of Mari. The girl loves her allmate dearly, and so does he. Their relationships is really good, and they get along. Pharaoh is the one that’s always next to Mari, in the good and bad times, keeping her company even when she sleeps.

With her noise canceling headphones on Mari roamed through all the tech shops in Kyuujuuminku, looking for some new parts for the watercooling device in her little baby, wishing not to be disturbed during her shopping ritual. The girl had been a regular on the computer components shops since she was a young teen, being known for the majority of the clerks and not easily scammed. Pharaoh, her allmate, stood next to her with his ears peeking up, being the one with the guard up while his master was distracted in her own world.

Noticing a fairly young guy talking to an employer about an amazing graphic’s card, the huge doberman nudged his head against his owner’s leg to call for her attention. Taking of her headphones, and before she could reply with a snarl, the dog talked with a deep voice with an metallic undertone.

— Look at that Mari. - points at the teen with his head and both payed attention at their conversation. A graphic’s card that expensive and rare in that shop? There was no way it could be true, and if it was, she wanted it more than him. More than anyone.

With long steps the girl stood next to them, invading their conversation. Looking curiously at the piece, after a while a frown started to appear in her forehead. The more she looked at it them more she thought it was a dirty stinky scam.

— Are you gonna buy this? - asks him with a face that said “I pity you”.
