This is a beautiful environmental study.

Thank you! This was back before I got water color and was using my computer program to try and get a watercolor look XD

You've certainly captured the color and feel of watercolor. What digital programs do you use or did use?

That moment when you realize how bad the da app is, when you accidentally put your reply as a comment and it doesn't let you copy it, delete it, or edit itΒ Β

I use Krita mainly, because it's free open source and really good (don't think "oh, open source art program, must be like gimp", this is actually good), and that's what I used here. I also love ArtRage, which is sadly not free and I haven't been able to splurge on the full version so I basically mope about the demo and wish I could save my art as more than screenshots XD. I've also used paintstorm studio, and one of my favorite digital artists has moved from ps to it, and it's super cool and only like 20 bucks unless the price changed, (I've only used them demo, but that ones demo does let you save, it just makes you save quit and reopen it every hourish to annoy you into getting the full version)

AHHHHhhh! Another Krita user!~Β

Β I too use Krita. I started my digital journey with GIMP, ended up very frustrated and unsatisfied (brushes performed like stamps and not brushes). Then went on a far more vigorous hunt for an upgrade to GIMP or at least find a better art program. GIMP was decent for editing scans and pictures but when it came to actual digital painting, everything ended up feeling smokey and it was just so clunky to use. Still much to learn about digital but I feel like Krita is a good place to master it as opposed to GIMP. What I love most about Krita so far is that it's constantly improving still.

I haven't tried ArtRage or Paintstorm, but the demo for Paintstorm sounds vexing. Β

Yeah, there's a brand new update from late last month on Krita I believe... I haven't gotten it yet because I can't download things of any size on my internet x_x. But since I've discovered it around two years ago there's been like 5 updates at least, like, big ones, I think there's also just be some little patch ones too

That's terrible (internet woes). Yeah... tons of new features. Animation, better brush stabilization, heal tool, color wheel enhancements, bug fixes and even new brushes...etc. 4.0 is coming out soon too with even more features. Are you running on a desktop or a laptop? If laptop any chance of sneaking into a coffee shop or utilizing a local library or university's wifi to make the download?

Haha, yes, I'm on laptop and I do normally sneak into the library and consume all their bandwidth with all the stuff I need XD. It actually slows once I get on and open my ten tabs.

That may very well be the way to do it. But definitely recommend trying to update Krita if you can. Not sure what the library's limitation is like.Β
