Description Art work for an extreme Alternate Reality fan fiction that I'm writing for White Collar.

A rare genetic disorder separates out a small percentage of the population giving them several characteristics including gold ringed eyes.  As children Animula do not engage or interact with their surrounds the same way normal children to, they do not cry, they do not form attachments and because of this they are considered to be soulless. They all develop very strong left brain tenancies making them experts at numbers, patterns, and analytical thinking.  At puberty hormonal changes allow them to develop normal human emotions and traits, but by that time they've already been labeled 'soulless' and it generally thought that their new found 'emotions' are a learned behaviour.

They are considered sub-human and owned by companies and highly wealthy individuals, placed in positions where their talent for numbers can be used for financial gain.  Most are treated well, but obviously not all are, particularly those who show too many 'human behaviors'.

When Neal enters a world of high stakes gambling and ends up with far more than he bargained for when he wins ownership of an Animula named Peter. Suddenly after a life time of avoiding responsibility Neal finds a man’s life and future in his hands...

If you are interested in the story a better description and the story itself can be found on my Live Journal: tigeress79.livejournal.com/528…

I've read the story up to its most current chapter prior to seeing this artwork. Love the story and this art piece!

Sweet!  Do I know you under another user name or are you a 'lurker'?  Heehee.  I'm pleased you like.

I haven't commented or reviewed, which I apologize for because I really should, lol, so I guess I'd just be a lurker. I'm AnakinCaffrey on both FF.net and AO3. The spin-offs of chapters written in the main Animula story are just as great!

I have a feeling you're not the only lurker.  As much as I hate to admit it reader response seriously affects my update speed.  I've got about six people that I know are reading it which is lower than a lot of my other stuff, but still more than none.

I've had a lot of fun with the 'side stories' in that particular story....it's been 35 chapters and I've barely moved the main plot along because of them though.  Heehee.

I have a really bad tendency of not reviewing/commenting even if I love the story to death, but I'll try to do that from now on! I totally understand that. I kind of crave feedback for my stories as well. I used to get a lot on AO3 and very little on FF.net, but I've gotten a lot more feedback on FF.net since I posted the third part of a series of stories I'm writing. I get excited when you update and I can't wait for the next chapter.

They're pretty awesome! lol, that's totally fine. I personally enjoy longer stories (unless I'm writing them). Each of my stories in this particular series I'm writing has or will have 60 chapters. xD It'll move along at a decent pace eventually!

I have no real right to complain since I read...like...no fan fic.  Mostly because I honestly don't have the time to read.  Between writing two stories at once (I've got another account on Ffnet), and painting, and work, and the occasional social interaction with my husband I have *very* little time left over.   At the same time I only write for others (since I'm not making any money at it) so it's always nice to know that people are enjoying.  All in all this story was a serious experiment for me, I've never done anything 'slave fic' so I'm pleased with the response so far.  It's more popular over on Live Journal than Ffnet and I"m not on AO3 (hard enough to keep the accounts I have in order!).

I will probably end up having to do more than one 'book' of Animula.  For some reason I never like to get more than 45-50 chapters in any one story.  If it's going to take 100 chapter to tell the tale then it's time to chop it up.  Heehee.
