This is a very odd doe. Not only is she piebald with nearly 90% white, but she died on a farm in the dead of winter so she has *really* long fur. The fur on the top of her head sticks up a good 2-3 inches.

This has been a really hard cape to work with for a few reasons. The first is the long fur which just makes it looks not like a deer to me. Also this hide was kept salted in a freezer for three years (NEVER salt a cape in the freezer, this is a huge mistake that lot of people make, the salt keeps the hide from freezing properly. Salt OR freezer, not both). Also being a winter deer the skin was really thick and due to the fact that it needed to go in the tan right away it got tanned before it was properly thinned. The last problem was my fault...I got the smallest form I could because her neck was so thin so skin ended up fitting a little awkwardly on the form.

All in all so far I give it a 'C'. Not the worst doe I've seen, but certainly not going to win any awards!
