Description I was starting to worry about this gal! I did not breed her myself. I bought her from someone who had locked up with a pied male a little too small for my taste. However she didn't ovulate in the spring so he thought she just wasn't going to go. Well she ovulated in late summer.

Today was about day 44 after he pre lay shed (they should lay around day 27). I was going to take her to the vet for fear of her being egg bound. But she got the job done!

Final count was two good eggs, one large infertile egg, and one slug. You can see the slug clearly in the photo, it's just a yolk with a shell around it it. The infertile one shows no viens when candled, but I put it in the incubator for now anyway.

50-60 days before baby pieds!

Gorgeous! I plan on breeding my pastel male to a piebald female if I can find one.

Piebald females are spendy. Pastel het pied males are so cheap these days that if I were you I'd just go ahead and get one to go with your piebald female and save yourself a few years.

A little different than being half albino, there is a gene that actually codes for white patches. It's my fave snake!

Hehe, his name is Houndini. He's a normal, probably not het for anything. I don't care, not going to breed him.

random question, Im a new ball-python owner.. Ive been looking at pictures of them on dA, and I noticed some have white on them, like yours in the picture .. Do you know why?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Phoenix-Cry In reply to PunkRockisNirvana [2012-10-14 00:06:45 +0000 UTC]

It is a ressesive gene called piebald. It causes white patches and aberrant pattern. It is passed on the same way that albino is.
