Description
This is Shyan the main character of my novel. This painting is a combination of watercolour and waterproof ink. Ink is a wonderful medium to get a good dark mood with. This is one of my better 'human' paintings, I don't usually draw humans.Related content

OH Phoenix that painting is wonderful! I love the way you have done the figure (well done because figure drawing is the most difficult) and the huge wings above him in the most gorgeous colours. Don't know the characters you speak of but this is a super piece of artwork and I am going to put it in my favourites.

Thanks! You don't know of the character that I speak of because he is mine. Heehee. He is from a novel that I wrote (but haven't bothered to look into publishing). That figure took FOREVER and is painted in ink.

This is gorgeous! I love his tropical colours. I love the contrast between inky shadows, soft natural skin tones and blazing tropical plumage. Also, thank you so much for making his wings so large! Many winged human figures have wings way way too small to support them in flight unless all they do is levitate and steer. Shyan also has the intensity of a novel character. I loved your comment about him somewhere up in the comments threads, dragged kicking and screaming into greatness. One of the grand cool things you can do in novels. Some of my characters may have some complaints on that order too! lol
But he's depicted great, and I do like his dark but not too dark skin tone, it's great coloration and it separates Shyan from most ethnic groups by being related to too many!

Thank you! Shyan is my all time fav character. I had so much fun with him the first time around that I even started a second book (slow going though because I'm so bloody busy!!). I made his wings so large because I wanted them to seem more like a burden than a blessing. When he gets really stressed out he compulsivly pulls his feathers out. Hehee.
If you would like to becomed in a 'novel switch' I would met some of your characters. I switch with a few people and we type out comments in the margins using the Word Tools to help us polish our work and let each other know what we do well. We usually only do a chapter or two at a time. Let me know.

I might later on. Right now I'm more immersed in working on Street Sketching and have still more medical runaround ahead of me, so I don't think I'd actually be able to make time for it. I'm even behind with my critique group.

The background is actually waterproof ink, so is his body, the wings are watercolour!

i was sure the background was water coloured, oh well XD i could tell the wings where water colour from the blue feathers :3

It's a fantasy work, that is very hard to exsplain. Heehee. The Phoenix is named Shyan, it's mostly about him and how he is dragged kicking and screaming into greatness.

It is not only completed, but has a sequel, it is around 200 pages, about 140,000 words. Average lenght for a novel. I've sent it to the Copy Write people, but not to any publishing houses, heehee, too scared.
