Burungin's Phoenixdex Entry

While nowhere near as brutally awful as the original Feucrota art, Burungin's original picture was really starting to show its age. I also recently decided to change its typing from pure Fire to Fire/Dark and mess with its stats a little bit, so I tweaked the design some. I'm really pleased with the way it came out, if I do say so myself. Newrungin is even managing to give Osgrave a run for its money as my favorite NL starter (which I guess is as it should be because I always pick the fire starter first anyway).

Aaaanyway. As said above, dude here is the final stage New Logoran fire starter. Burungin are very mysterious Pokémon that always seem to be wearing masks; no one is sure why, nor do they know what its face looks like beneath the mask, but some do speculate that it's the source of their bizarre fire-controlling abilities. They can bend and manipulate flames as if they were spellcasters, and when they cloak their bodies in these ever-changing flames it almost appears as though they can shapeshift. Ancient people revered and feared them as mighty fire spirits.

I had fun with this. It's based on various African legends of "werehyenas", which are awesome and yet no one ever pays attention to them. That's even where the name comes from: burn and the Bornu word bultungin, which means "I change myself into a hyena". Gwaharhar.
