I'm assuming the base is wood? or is it like plastic that looks like wood? Pretty cool though

It must be rather time consuming. Is there an internal armature or is it all solid wire?

yes it was! took me a few weeks. it is all wire, but i did make a thick base before i started coiling it. I needed a thick base to keep it from tipping when it was finished.

I made a little bird with a similar technique. Its a really cool medium. It is so versatile, that cherry tree would have been hard to make out of anything else

my friend made a bird for the class as well, but her technique was very different from mine. i loved it. the wire was very spread out and it ended up looking like a grid. I enjoyed working with wire the most during the semester. do you have a picture up of your bird?
