Love the way you added your tree onto that rock. It feels more solid as a show piece.

Woah. I love the contrast of colours and the little details added - although the lizard and nest kind of break the bonsai illusion. If I bought this, I'd probably try to remove them.

How often would this need to be cleaned (of tarnish etc)?

How is the tree affixed to the rock?

This is the kind of thing I could easily develop an unhealthy addiction for.

the nest and lizard are only held with super glue so a little nail polish remover will take them right off..

the best way I have found for cleaning this is with a vacuum cleaner... they get quite dusty and you can't scrub it vigorously as the leaves may break off.. as for getting tarnished it won't its enamel coated copper wire so it will never turn green if it gets really dirty I would suggest filling a sink full of warm soapy water and swish the top half of the tree in the water and drip dry.. the base would be fine with a damp cloth...

the tree is fixed with 2,500psi epoxy.. it ain't going anywhere

I'm happy you like it!

I remember the first Copper wire tree I saw, A rather impressive 4' tall Oak Made in Highschool art class in 2000... its great to see the technique is still alive and been refined!

Ive actually seen one that big also.. someone on FineArtAmerica.com had made one as tall as his 4' kid! base and all.. very impressive.. I don't think I have enough money for that much wire!! lol

Minotaur-Queen In reply to Roses-to-Ashes [2012-05-31 03:03:46 +0000 UTC]

LOL! When the one I saw was made copper prices were WAAY down. I love how yours is quite fine wire.. it adds so much life to the tree itself. The black rack really sets it off although IMO it would have been better if it was a natural black rock like a basalt. But still looks great!

eh the other one was a pain to clean.. and it seems to have loosened a bit as well.. so I just tightened things up and found a better base
