Is the photo cropped? It seems like there should be more at the top and bottom of the photograph. But either way, I still like it a lot, lots of tension!

AB-SO-FUKIN-LUTE tension. I blow down How else, or where else can you get such an individualistic, one on one, face off, you name it, expresssion on ones face? They say, you capture a frame, a still, in life... and I must say, you've caught IT! Forgive me for straying.... but I'd think it would be neat if the name would be "Mediator". But that's just me. Interesting. You have placed the viewer right in the sort of no mans land. A great shot and it looks great in black and white, capturing the atmosphere so well. Certainly a piece of history here but It would be great to know a bit of background information for this as panopticum and sanfernando say.

I love the shot, but it really needs some info to go with it. 'Old ones'??? Vietnam War protests ? some previous immgrants' protests?

about Vietnam...I just watched Born on the Fourth of July last night. Every bit as good as I remembered. very relevant movie still. It's hard to imagine that Tom Cruise would do something like that these days.

i wonder what happened a few moments after this shot.
looks like they are about to start fighting.
strange how the men on the right have helmets as well,
and like quite similar to the policemen (besides the
beard and the clothes.)
