Description
After I had taken this I wasn't happy with the lack of shadow detail in the boots, so I made an HDR out of the original and two others that I had changed the exposure on. I did a bit of tone mapping in Photomatix, but only a little bit. (I don't like it and never use it, but wanted to get a rough, grainy feel to the shot, without adding noise.)Related content

Thanks for the fave, Rob. I hate messing with shots. Especially ones that should stand up on their own, but this needed to have plenty of detail in the leather of the boots to tell the full, tough, working class story. I used HDR, but then did a bit of tone mapping that I honestly regret. I don't think it needed it. A lesson learned!

Me neither. I don't particularly use HDR except for exposure problems. I can't really get my head round tone mapping. I usually use HDR in PS if I use it at all, but I just thought, 'Go on, give it a go!'
