Has to have been a southerner - any northerner would have seen it straight away! Unless of course it was deliberate

Esteficita In reply to photonig [2010-02-02 08:36:39 +0000 UTC]

You're the first one in there. But if you browse through my sisters gallery and favorites, she has a gazillion lomo shots herself OR faved somebody who is very lomo or knows somebody who is very lomo.

photonig In reply to Esteficita [2010-02-02 08:54:47 +0000 UTC]

I knew about your sis, but it was only when I went to have a look that I realised what a very cool lass she is. She is the 'cool' sibling then, is she?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Esteficita In reply to photonig [2010-02-02 09:04:21 +0000 UTC]

She is the cooler one, no doubt about it... When she realised that she sucked at traditional photography she did not give up (like I would have), she got herself a Holga and made her lack of photographic skills an art that I can only admire...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

photonig In reply to Esteficita [2010-02-02 09:15:32 +0000 UTC]

I don't know about a lack of photographic skill. I just think she uses it to produce a different result. I love diversity.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Esteficita In reply to photonig [2010-02-02 09:30:27 +0000 UTC]

Well, she does have basic knowledge, because she took a photography course in college, she has her ears pricked like a dog whenever I talk about something and she seriously knows about light and post processing. She just claims she sucks at traditional photgraphy. (I suppose she is also too lazy to REALLY get into it...)

I love her work as well, but then 20 cameras with 20 different lenses should to the trick as well. BTW, she is obsessively, compulsively creative... She'll turn anything into art.

Esteficita In reply to photonig [2010-02-01 22:11:19 +0000 UTC]

Shame on you!
But you know what? I suppose even in film photography somebody could have done it by exposing through colored foil or something like that.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

photonig In reply to Esteficita [2010-02-01 22:17:26 +0000 UTC]

Easily. I don't feel too bad about doing this. My 21 year old son gave me a long lecture on it being OK to manipulate film in PS to the same extent as you could under a developer. Colour, contrast, dodge, burn etc. You can do all that in the film darkroom. I think he was trying to impress me.

i agree with your son.
as long as one owns up to what they've done.
for the longest time I felt like 'I can never do what all those popular folks on dA are doing.'
then one day it hit me...
they are all freaking using Photoshop--
*
while --i love the integrity of work that comes as is...
there isn't anything wrong with some editing to improve it.

photonig In reply to SLPdomain [2010-02-02 08:37:30 +0000 UTC]

lol Yes!!! They are all using Photoshop. My son is daft, but when I run him back to Uni we have some great long conversations. I'm also glad that all the encouragement I gave him when he wanted to get into photography paid dividends.

I see alot of those circular pixelated fields which i assume is blurring...
and then there are some photos that have a very brown --i suppose thats dodging
which i think--doesn't look that well--because i visualize things printed...
but--its popular.
*
considering the sweet child in your recent blog--
he still exist...even if he is 6'2...
