get some thin wire, something like memory wire that won't bend under the stars weight to much.

Yeah, the stars themselves are no problem, it's more finding an elegant way to suspend them.

Perhaps....Maybe a thin Border, almost like it were a picture frame made of thin metal for the scene? Then suspend the stars with clear fishing line wire?
