It might be a bit harder to shoot them if Phox overheard and the discussion was something like, "And then my toddler imitated the puppy and tried to chew on the other table leg," than if they were laughing about "You won't imagine the positions people can contort their body into when they're being tortured."

Maybe not that dark but probably laughing about stilling and pulling off impressive bank heist and carrying out assassinations. Not all mercenaries are bad in my world, they are kinda like real life ones. They fit a certain trade which happens to be skilled combat, so they go into the mercenary and military contractors.

Yep. In my world, one planet that's kind of the ruling system didn't have a standing army, just mercenaries and bounty hunters for law enforcement.

Better pay them well and keep your prices confidential, it would be bad for some one to bid a higher pay check.

Bounty hunters get a certain fee that's pretty well-known. The bounty hunters even get ranked by how much they make per year, with ones who make more getting higher privileges.
