Description was so nice and featured me in her journal among several other deviants, that I decided to draw some fan art of Midnight in return, to whom I'm giving a cookie =^_^=

Waterfall idea was a test to see if it would fit here, since I don't like plain backgrounds

Me too.^^ Sometimes a background is self a character.

That is why i try to fill in the white gap in artworks with something (like trees,bushes and such) so that way do not look plain.
