OH MY GAWD.

I mentioned on Twitter I was attempting what would likely be the most grueling artistic challenge I'd ever undertaken, and that turned out to be very, very true. When the original 25-expression version of this meme was at its very peak back in the late 00s, I'd always wanted to try it, but as a strictly traditional artist with ADHD, depression, and no knowledge of how to use basic digital art functions to assemble it, I dismissed it as a lost cause and never gave it a try. I defeated myself without at least trying my hand at it.

13 years later, here I am with Clip Studio Paint and the knowledge to use it competently thanks to Fuure , and a fire in my belly to draw my current hyperfixation as much as possible before that spark dies and I move onto the next one. And I did it. I went in with full awareness that I might not complete it, that I could go too hard, too fast, and burn myself out or get bored or distracted and abandon it. But I didn't. From December 11 to tonight, the wee morning hours of December 28 just about two and a half weeks later, I did 30 god damn headshots of My Hero Academia's own resident scream man Present Mic, the latest in the long lineage of my idiot fictional objects of affection.

I'm so proud of myself.

2020 has been a really, really difficult year for everyone, myself included, but I can also look back on this as the year that I got my art spark back. I'm working very slowly, but I don't plan to stop here. I'm going to keep getting better and make the beautiful things I see in my mind's eye. Also, literally as much ship art as I can get away with. So much ship art.

Thanks for having a look at this, even if it was only a cursory glance after finding it in one of the numerous clubs I'm about to submit it to. This art challenge means so much to me and I'm so happy that I could get it done. ;-;

Let's do our best to make 2021 a better year, one full of growth, patience, and determination. <3
