Backstory:

The Prince’s Foot Companions are the most elite infantry the re-established Principality of Rhovanion has to offer. Clad in heavy Númenórean plate and chainmail and donning the colours of their prince, these men excel in their role as defenders of the prince. Their large shields and war hammers are ready to strike anyone down who comes too close to their lord.

  Rumour has it High King Aragorn, first king of the Reunited Kingdom of Gondor and Arnor, set out to liberate the lands to the far-east around the Sea of Rhûn. When he entered the lands of Rhovanion, he encountered a company of soldiers guarding a young boy, who turned out to be the last of the Rhovanion royals, named Gorion. By constantly wandering and seeking shelter in several natural defendable places they were kept alive, but this method didn’t stop orc raiders and other evil creatures from killing off most of the guard and the boy’s parents and grandparents. Aragorn, now Elessar, came just in time to save the last of the royal guard and the prince.

  Taking him and the companions back to Minas Tirith, plans were made to re-establish the principality of Rhovanion. The royal guard became the Prince’s Foot Companions and Aragorn went out of his way to make sure they were trained by Fountain Guard and Throne Room Guard drill sergeants, he would have them be the best of the best.

  As for the prince, he was brought up in the royal palace amongst Aragorn’s own family, Eldarion becoming great friends with him. It also seemed one of Elessar’s daughters fell in love with the prince, creating a strong bond between Rhovanion and Gondor later on. At his 18th birthday, Gorion was named Prince of Rhovanion and made a vassal of King Elessar.

  His foot companions, now in their iconic armour of which the helmet was a combination of northron and Gondor aesthetics, accompanied the prince during his voyages through old Rhovanion. Each time, they would bring back survivors of the many years of torment and brutality, eventually after many years bolstering the numbers of the foot companions, but also the mounted prince guard and forming a retinue of well-trained soldiers to not only help Gorion, but also Elessar himself.

  The reclamation came when Rhûnic raiders invaded Ithilien, causing distress amongst its civilians. Elessar called on his vassals, including Gorion, who answered the call. The prince’s foot companions made up the vanguard of the main force as this was their time to avenge their forefathers and reclaim their land. When battle came, the prince and his mounted guards went on flanking manoeuvres whilst the companions assaulted the Easterlings from the front, causing a lot of shock and confusion within their ranks. The Rhovanion hammers didn’t have any mercy and inspired their fellow soldiers and Gondorians to join the assault as well. Gorion’s flanking attack then caused the invaders to flee back to where they came.

  Gorion’s companions would see action all the way to the capital of Rhûn, where they were the first to breach the eastern gate and capture the grand temple, the most sacred site for the Easterlings. They were awarded the honour of being the palace guards for the prince when he took up residence in his new capital. The foot companions hence forth would carry a purple banner with the white tree surrounded by two horses, outlined with white and with a golden border.
