It's definitely an interesting sci-fi/horror movie. I hope Ridley Scott is able to deliver a sequel, that seemed to be hinted at the end.

Yes, I heard that if they do one it will follow Shaw and David to the Engineers home planet. I for one cannot wait for the future adventures of Shaw and David's head.

All I know is that if this is the prequel to Alien, this does potentially fill in the gap to explain the crashed Engineer ship at the beginning of Alien that brings the Nostromo to it's fateful demise.

It is not a prequel to Alien in that it never shows the ship or the Engineer that you see in Alien. It does not explain how that Engineer ended up the way he/she? did. It takes place in the same universe as Alien, but on a different planet. Elements of Prometheus hint at explanations for what could have happened to the Engineer in Alien. I don't think we should expect to see a direct prequel to Alien. I am glad because I think it would be boring. I love, love, love Alien and the first two sequels, but I think any direct prequel would just be rehash of the tropes we are now all too familiar with. Face hugger somehow infects engineer, cue familiar chest burst scene, cut to alien laying eggs in ship, blah, blah, blah. The way they chose to do it instead opens up new questions rather than spoon feeding answers to us.

Ahh I still haven't seen Prometheus! I heard it was slightly disappointing but i'll probably buy it when it comes out on dvd. ^-^;;
I also figured it wasn't a direct prequel to Alien (this is a good thing though). I spent waaay too much time on the Prometheus forums before this movie came out. There were some very good plot theories posted on the forums and i'm probably going to wish those were the actual plots instead of the one Mr. Scott came up with.
>___>;; Oh well I do enjoy science fiction so i'll take this movie for what it is.

it is wonderful! or at least as wonderful as it could be considering the story. also wow at how you captured the feel of the opening scene in this illustration. I tried to do the same but as I cannot draw land very well i failed.
