In this alternate timeline the Second World War is performed in a similar manner however it would last until 1947 due to a variety of reasons. In Europe, the Germans would equip themselves to a greater extent than in our world for the German Invasion of the USSR (Barbarossa). The operation is much more successful here than in our world resulting in German victory in the battle of Stalingrad and Moscow. However these victories are short lived, but impact the war in Europe long enough to make the war itself last longer and be considerably more grueling than in our world. In Europe the allies eventually close in on Germany by early 1946. Despite this, the Germans fought tooth and nail and saw many minor victories in their dying days. Hitler and many of the high raking Nazis would end up finding refuge in Argentina after narrowly escaping. Because of this, the allies are to have a harsher occupation than in our world but Germany is split like in our timeline, with the Poles ending up absorbing more of their eastern territories. The United States develops atomic weaponry but doesn't make use of it in the Second World War for various reasons. Operation Downfall would be the proposed Allied plan for the invasion of the Japanese home islands. The operation had two parts: Operation Olympic and Operation Coronet. Beginning in November of 1945 Operation Olympic would capture the southern third of the southernmost main Japanese island, Kyūshū, with the recently captured island of Okinawa being used as staging grounds for further invasions. In early 1946 would come Operation Coronet, the invasion of the Kantō Plain, near Tokyo, on the main Japanese island of Honshu.

Both of these operations would result in tremendous American causalities that would rank up far higher than that in the Western Front. Despite this, luck and victory was on the Americans side and they would find success in the invasion of the islands. The hardest part to deal with would be the guerilla warfare within the islands themselves. The Japanese would make notorious usage of their home turf in order to secure added causalities on the Americans. Despite this, the Americans would end up forcing the Japanese to surrender in late 1947 after long standing devastation to the islands, costing the lives 6 million allied soldiers and 36 million Japanese Soldiers and civilians. The islands would be placed under allied occupation indefinitely.

Due to greater American expenses in Operation downfall, the Soviets are able to secure the entirety of Korea for themselves while the Chinese are able to secure a complete victory over the nationalists - meaning no Taiwan. These series of stunning victories result in the Americans in Japan being pressured even more to maintain their holding, and so Japan faces a rather large amount of funding to support American bases and airfields - practically making Japan a US colony. The people of the world would then face the most deadly force of all. A force beyond that of this world. A series of meteorites that were blasted off from the planet Mars eons ago carried a deadly pathogen known as 980V. While the origin of the virus in exact terms was not known, upon the first cases in Africa being uncovered in the 1950s it was clear that this virus had originated via interplanetary origins with no confirmed cases prior, and there being correlative evidence proving that it came from a meteor shower that was seen over Africa. Across Africa people would drop dead by the millions - marked with green blistering sores that oozed out warped flesh and pus.

Upon the realization of this horrible plague, the focus on cold war politics ends and there is a haphazard international effort to get this virus under control. This effort fails to contain the pandemic, and it spreads across the entire world in due time. All nations face total or near economic Collapse, while efforts to secure the rural areas from the spread finally find success. The virus would end up vanishing upon moving across the world for so long, it seems that the Virus itself had a hard hitting effect unlike any other but given time it would gradually phase its way out and merge within the world's viral population. Those who were able to find immunity found themselves healthier than ever before, but at the cost of the lives of billions. By 1955, the USSR and its Communist allies fall under the strains of their failing economic systems leading local warlords to take power and engage in various civil wars for local power. The Communist Chinese take advantage of this and incorporate Korea and Vladivostok. Due to China's huge population, it ended up remaining with the largest population in the world even after the Virus. With so many people gone, the Chinese are fully able to deal with the crisis and funnel effort into the remaining army, resulting in the most powerful army at the end of the Pandemic in 1956, leaving around only 1 billion people left on the Earth itself. The United States sees the rise of a secret society known previous inner cabals, as the 'Wisdom Committee' in secret. They will manipulate elections in secret and select politicians based on who was inducted into the Committee. The general public is kept under the illusion of democracy, when in truth the Committee selects anyone it wants to at whim and stacks the government with its loyal supporters. Their spies and agents are everywhere, keeping close eyes on dissidents and removing people if needed. Disappearances became quite common in those days.

Society would face widespread societal pressures. Mostly from the newly formed "Heavens Groups" that emerged out of a zeitgeist of religious radicalism. These groups would quickly spread across Europe, promising social change and progress so long as they yield to their ways. The various governments were overtaken slowly. By 1972 these movements found themselves at the strength needed to declare a Holy War in the name of Jesus Christ. They would face massive resistance, especially from France who was determined to not lose its territorial integrity after the events of the Second World War. The European Holy War ends in the victory of the Heavens Groups who fully unify themselves into one entity, declaring the removal of all divisions within Christianity and seeing the awakening of new religious prophets that oversee the transition of all Christians in Europe into one unified sect. Across the world not all agree with this of course, but in Europe their will is iron. The Lord's Kingdom of Europe is proclaimed after the various warring states of the former USSR were completely neutralized. The Chinese, seizing the opportunity stormed across any land they could to seize them before the Lord's Kingdom got to them. The Chinese had also proclaimed the United Eastern Republics in direct response to the formation of the Lord's Kingdom. As a show of force, the Chinese begin an invasion in Japan and stage a Communist revolution there and across the world. By 1982 the Naxalites and other movements have also seen success in India on part of the government's inability to manage the economy and are in a direct uprising known as the Indian Revolution and already it has costed millions of lives within India, not to mention the great amount of social stressors relating from the pandemic and the series of unfortunate events that had occurred afterward The Lord's Kingdom of Europe had also seen success in invading various parts of Africa but is embroiled in large scale uprisings as a result, finding itself somewhat overstretched. They have movements in the Congo that are facing off against Chinese backed communists and various local forces, resulting in a four way civil war. The middle east isn't fairing too much better under the reign of the Lord's Kingdom. It is now 1982. Democracy is extinguished from the world and by this point nobody questions it. The true question is - What lays ahead in this dark and deadly world?
