Sooo… this is almost a first for me I think. 2023 recap! With little logical reading order to the grid…

- I finally joined Instagram, with my Galette des Reines piece in January. Yes, I am a mite change-averse and a crotchety old fuddy-duddy who likes dA in dinosaur mode. And I was always a bit in two minds about how to present myself there, between this geeky English-language fanartist pseud, and my more professional networking in the field of French bandes dessinées under my real name. Ah welp, six of one, half-dozen of the other, and I’ve not archived much of my non-recent work there; but I guess I’ll own my multiple facets. - Don Juan des Flots, my BD project done in traditional pen and brush inking. Act I was wrapped up in February, still slogging through Act II, that is, the second of 3 46-page books. You’ve seen some of that here! Fantasy and female-gazey take on the story.

- I designed the characters and started illustrating Witch vs Warlock 2-page gag comics for Monster Fun, a UK publication. 10 episodes in, the magazine has gone monthly, and that is still wacky fun to do.

- My publisher had a big fancy petits-fours anniversary event. I still do book signings and occasional commishes on my Dragon&Poisons albums. Available in Dutch and German!

- I painted a drunk unicorn for a party game at my sister’s wedding. Quite a lot of family events this year, mostly good times.

- Illustrating Between/Otherworld… I guess that was a bridge between working as Pika in the Labyrinth fandom and publishing under my real name. That’s ever a blast, I feel like I’m getting paid to make fanart, Lisa’s writing is such a snuggly sparkling delight. Alas, did not get as much done as hoped in that ‘verse this year, must improve output, there are Things being Planned.

- oh yeah, and you got like, 2 pages and a special by way of GND updates this year, didn’t ya. Boo. There was gonna be some Christmas fluff this year, but covid snookered my Crimbo Limbo week, boo again.

2024 plans and aspirations do include some things here, of the geeky and glittery persuasion, however. Fingers crossed, eyes bright, tests clear, full speed ahead…!
