Hey folks. So, coupla years ago, I was introduced to tumblr's darling Badass of the Week/Forgotten Princess, the very larger than life Julie d'Aubigny, or Mademoiselle de Maupin.... 17th century (about a generation after the Musketeers) crossdressing bisexual swordswoman and opera singer, look her up, starting here > en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Julie_d%… . And in early 2018 I started working on a pitch for a comic book before she inevitably got snapped up by someone else? and batting ideas back and forth with a writer....

... but other things happened and I've left Julie by the road for now. Still, I did a shitton of research into the period and swordfighting and the differing bioographies.... one thing that was hard to decide was whether to play it à la Musketeers and just do historical adventure fiction with that badass protagonist (à la Rose of Versailles/ La Rose Ecarlate), or strictly biography.....

but it would've been a great teen project, she is a most excellent Be Gay Do Crimes heroine who lay out literally every dude who tried it with her and was a genuinely gifted singer on top of all her shenanigans.

Anyhoo, am sharing this picture dump as a pacifier because no GND for the next month at least, is deadline time.

Pics are fairly chronological from top to bottom in working on the chara design and wavering between traditional or digital inking....
