I have to ask, since PadmΓ© has been shown to be alive in this universe here, how does this work? Was Leia and Luke raised together or were they given up for adoption? I mean with all there people from diffrent eras crossing is time travel involved?

Most characters in the Building-'verse are "post-canon" and know their own stories. It gets troubling for them when there are updates like LND or TFA to alter/evolve them, but rule of thumb is they usually stick with their most popular/memorable incarnation (as perceived in RL pop culture). So Luke and Han and Leia have "been through" the original trilogy events; the problem now is the new episodes...
Otherwise, another sort-of rule (guideline, really) for GND is that it tends to adopt female characters preferentially (since "Girls..." and as something of a personal mission statement); and the Building-'verse attracts characters with unfinished business and issues still undealt with: hence a lot of villains or otherwise troubled characters, over the more classic heroes and couples who have canonical Happy Endings and complete story arcs. You see?
