Me and a friend were discussing that phrase the other day, and I was really surprised to find it as the title of your piece.

it literally translates to act of faith. i'm twisting the meaning a bit. it was used in the burning times to describe witches burning at the stake

wow, beautiful drawing, composition and idea! (even though i didn't get your original idea until you said it...) what great contrast of light and dark, so soft, fading delicately like natural sunlight does, you captured the light very well. the flecks of detail throughout really give this realism, adding just a light touch of grittiness, good work! if you want to get your messege across more, i think the picture would benefit from some indication of a person's presence... like empty shoes sitting before the seat or something, for when i initially looked at this, i wasn't even thinking of the human aspect of it, for only objects were involved. just a sugestion
