I know it seems like I'm that skinny girl who always thought she was fat but so far its just been a lot of luck the way things have turned out on this.

Nice start!

Alright so down to it, i see you did splattering early on, cool butthats a gutzy move, you might have to paint white over some areas to getthe effect under control. But still shows your fearless with it.
Make sure you have a good soild drawing were you know whats going on in it. Watch your line weights(i get told this alot from other inkers) this means watch that you vary your lines in thickness were it needs it, thier aresome rules on it Basic formula is thin is farthuer away and thick is close....but in inking you have lighting as well to think on, so thins can indacte a place where light is bright and burn the image or thick can show shadows and outlines like you have on the chest so far.
I do like the chest desgin and inking so far. As a inker you want tosure upand improve the piece but with out looseing the orginal pencils intent of the piece. Cross hatching and hatch work are very importiant, some body like Art Adams uses alot of lines to convay his lighting well some body like Frank Miller uses big areas of black to make a film noir feel. this is where you have to do some rearch and see what you like and what the art calls for. Also as a inker you are the bridge (like a bass player ina band; they link the drums to the guitar) from the penciler who makes the image, to you who makes it ready for print and emblishes it, to the colorist who makes it nice and bright and pretty looking for the page. Comics its all about the print so to many fine lines arnt good, Fine art anything goes as its your art. Ask mr if that isnt clear or making sense.
A few books i recommend looking at are 'the art od inking comics' by Gary Martian, Wizards how to series, Burne Hogarth's series, and for basic drawing 'Drawing on the right side of the brain'. These are the books i use. Also check out some of the groups on here for more referances and thier are some pros here to that can helpyou along. I have some in my Faviorte stack and groups in that stack.
I hope this helped and i hope you have more questions as you go along inking, i know i do and thier so much to know about the craft.
Oh are you useing pens, brush or nibs on this? Because that makes some changes in how i can add tips to this.
Good luck!

Yeah ^^' I did the splatter technique because I had always been curious about it and the effects it has on art. I'm using something similar to ink and quil. What do you normally use? I wanted this picture to be in the shadows for the most part and have Spawn's hand eminating light from some type of energy.
Also I really wanted to thank you on how much information you have given me, you've already given me the best and most tips I have ever recieved from anyone on my time here so thanks again. I'll check out the books when I get to a Barnes&Noble soon, I hope theyre there.

Sure im very glad to help.
I like your idea, keep in mind your lighting, Its a very tricky thing and if its wrong it can ruin it. For that check out Burne Hogath's Lighting book or a stagecraft book for theatre, as a stage hand thats my job is light so it helpswhen makeing a scene.
Since he is in the shadows it'll be dark right, you might need to add some white back in towards the end so use a acylic base ink or acylic paint for this, white out can fade to a yucky yellow/tan. I use FW inks for my good pieces and Bombay for my practice or less importiant pieces if i dont have the FW handy. Also a Gouache can do the trick if you like watercolor base inks, i have a winsor & Newton Designer's Gouache thats bleedproof.
Now with spawn he is already black with touches of white and red on his body and a big red cape with green engery and eyes...plus he bleeds green. so edgeing you creation with light is key id say.
Now a quill/nib is a good way to do it but make sure the tip stays clean when your done or the tip will dry and then not flow as well or at all. I use pens alot, Sakura Microns mostly as thier farly cheap and good quialty, they also make gellyrolls in which i use the white for lineing back. But the brush is the old school way and one of the best, A rapomatic pen or nib are good to but you have to maintain them a bit more.
And yeah, the books should be thier or a local comic shop if they carry how to draw books.
Some others just for comics are the Will Eisner series (the bible of comics i hear) and any artist you like that has one is worth looking at for thier approch or tips on stuff.
Good luck and agian just ask and i dont mind helping.
