I love the glow on this model, is that a contour or a bump/displacement map?

Oh that glow is a my own special technique. I do not use traditional maps ... they are all raw material values. I use black and white / and some gray graded MASK maps in multi material nodes. It sounds complicated but very basic.

actually after my experiences in school I'm familiar with the technique Multi-material nodes and masking I used them a lot myself. Assuming we're talking 3ds max. Ambient, bump and Displacement maps are my go to with the occasional specular mapping. Still haven't gotten around to purchasing any of your models and I'm debating saving the cash to commission some pieces I have some very specific designs in mind although I'd have to get around to drawing them first. I absolutely love your work Can you export to a FBX format? Or perhaps a .obj? I know mapping goes to hell in 3ds's .max to obj conversion but files in .3ds format retain their UV coordinates and maps. I've done a few conversions myself but it's easier to not have to. I would suggest if you ever want to lock in the Daz Studio market, offer fbx also works for video games. Although for DazPoser .obj is optimal. Do you have a collection of ship parts? That would be seriously cool.

Oh man you are awesome. I do not own 3DS MAX. I did own 3DS studio3 long , long ago then I did purchase MAX 5, that was also long ago, and when I met Maya I was blown, I could, at the time , I was only able to afford their student version that was 6.5 .I did try to save money to own that software so hard, but I couldn't , and because I did not have commercial license I could not sell my models on TurboSquid. This was around 2004 all my models were free, total of over million downloads. Then they toldmeto take them down blah blah ... Long story, Now these days I do use Blender 3D. All my models are done with Blender. And , man it is very special in its own unique way. You know me I love to build spaceships and I do want to make money. Money is my goal. I want to get a Max or maya give myself a good year and learn it all over again and make industry standard models and sell. Because I have been using blender and blender has its own great history, It did mold me into something. I know now that does sound little strange but I did become like the mentality behind the software. So on that note, I respect you for liking my pieces for a long time and if you get yourself blender ( open source free software ) I would not mind sending you some of my latest spaceships. You can give me your email address , if you care

You can reach me any time at Spydraxis@gmail.com friend. Most folks hate Turbosquid...they sell licensed IP without permission and try to act legit...ask if George Lucas signed off on their Millennium Falcon for like 300 bucks. Talk about Hypocrites. I don't have a License to sell models and I don't think anyone actually does since anything you make (legit software or no) is your IP. Whenever a site asks for my credentials I make a policy to ask for theirs. I could get sued for using products they sell and they know it. I've never bought anything from that overpriced bunch of losers. You are better off without them try Renderosity...you'll get way more exposure and their prices are pretty good.

I dont know... I think here I am only trying to keep my imagination safe and bit original so, I do end up following rules and regulations. But hey you do give a shot to blender, cause I will, and I will send you some of my early cool stuff. Also I think you can export most out to whatever 3D soft you use, so hey one artist to another, It'd be good.

I use primarily a .obj format. But Daz studio also use Maya and 3ds, sometimes ZBrush. So anything those programs support. I once had a proigram that could do Vue files but I can't find it.
