I love it! Dragon Warrior was my ideal time-waster when I was younger, and I still love it. I'd buy one of these for sure!

Alright, you have done the 16bit dragon warrior dragon. yay...
...and I feel your pain with the hama army green... I used it on my Black magic shop from Final Fantasy I and it looks too much like black, even in person...

Is there any difference between perler and hama? I can get hama cheaper off ebay but I wasn't sure if they'd work with my perler pegboards.

There is no need to fear, hama & perler beads get along just fine together. I only use perler pegboards.
There is a slight size difference. There's like a 1 or 2 milimeter (mm) differerence in size. In practice, the difference is small enough to be negligible.

Cool, how do the beads stay together?

They are melted together.

Are they melted in an oven?

Not at all. You put them on a pegboard, and then when you have the design finished, place a piece of silicone paper (baking materials aisle @ the store) over it, then run an iron over it. The iron melts the beads together.
You're probably thinking of polymer clay.
