One of the newcomers in Super Smash Bros. for 3DS/WiiU is Robin from the Fire Emblem series. Robin uses a spellbook along with a sword to fight, following the breakable weapon mechanic from their home series. Robin was added over Chrom because creator Masahiro Sakurai decided against having another traditional swordsperson in the main roster. (Lucina was added, but she was supposed to be a "palette/model/gender swap" for Marth and was made into her own character since other "form change"/clone characters like Zero Suit Samus, Sheik, Dr. Mario, and Dark Pit were made into standalones.) Chrom was made into Robin's assist character in the Final Smash, however. Robin has the slowest running speed of any character and has very high damage output along with a life-draining move. The book can even be thrown for massive damage.

Both of Fem!Robin's voice actresses played characters in Street Fighter V. In the Japanese version, Fem!Robin is voiced by Miyuki Sawashiro, who is the voice for Cammy (and her clone Decapre). In the English dub, Fem!Robin is voiced by Lauren Landa, the voice for Karin Kanzuki. It becomes a bit ironic considering that Japanese Cammy and English Karin share a character...
