Laura Bailey is one of the best-known voice actresses in video games. Her roles include Chun-Li (Street Fighter series), Helena Harper (Resident Evil 6), Blaze the Cat (Sonic series), Catherine (Catherine), and, pictured above, Pyrrha (Soulcalibur V) and Lucina (Fire Emblem Awakening and Super Smash Bros. for 3DS/Wii U). Bailey even voiced anime characters like Kid Trunks and Shin Nohara.

While I haven't played any of the Fire Emblem games, I have heard that they are a good series. I did, however, play as FE characters in Smash 4, and Lucina is a newcomer who's a moveset clone of Marth but with equal damage on all her sword. The English dub actually changed Lucina's quotes to make her more aggressive and hardcore for American audiences. In the original Japanese version, she was more polite and gentle.

Soulcalibur V might be the most controversial entry in its series, mainly for its flawed story and characterization of protagonist Patroklos Alexander, son of Sophitia Alexandra. Patroklos' sister Pyrrha isn't as hated as he is, but she has drawn criticism for her timid personality. Some haters don't seem to see (or outright ignore) that Sophitia's children do develop to be better people (even if the pacing isn't the best). Pyrrha was designed to appeal to the Japanese audience, who appreciate moe more than Americans generally would. Also, the B blood type does make for characters who are bold and reckless (Patroklos and Cassandra) or compassionate and empathetic (Sophitia and Pyrrha). Pyrrha uses her mother's fighting style just like her brother and aunt, but it changes up when she is in her Omega form. The voice actors of the newcomers for Soulcalibur V are very recognizable and have a lot of connections with each other. I see that a lot of actors from Resident Evil voice the new characters: Kate Higgins (Natsu; played Deborah Harper), Matthew Mercer (Z.W.E.I.; played Leon Kennedy), Eden Riegel (Elysium; played Sherry Birkin), and Roger Craig Smith (Ezio Auditore da Firenze; played Chris Redfield). Some Street Fighter actors as well: Matthew Mercer (played Fei Long), Johnny Yong Bosch (Xiba; played Yang) and Lauren Landa (Yan Leixia; played Karin Kanzuki). Of course, Smith was Sonic. Patroklos' actor Yuri Lowenthal also played Toby Nebbins in Catherine!

Both Pyrrha and Lucina are named after mythological characters. Pyrrha, fitting with her Greek nationality, is named after the wife of Deucalion; Deucalion and Pyrrha are considered the "Mr. and Mrs. Noah" of Greek mythology, having to repopulate the Earth after the world flooded. Lucina is the name of the Roman goddess of childbirth, Greek counterpart Eileithyia. Pyrrha and Lucina also use swords.

The Soul series belongs to Hiroaki Yotoriyama, Project Soul, and Bandai Namco Entertainment. The Fire Emblem series belongs to Shouzou Kaga, Intelligent Systems, and Nintendo.
