This is the legend of the werewolf - the REAL story.

Once upon a time, a very long time ago, there lived beings called Kami, who could take the appearance of either a human or an animal. These magical beings were very scarce in number and lived peacefully and secretly among the people of that era. The Kami were a species that was neither human, nor animal, but rather something in between – today, they would be considered shape shifters. However, each Kami had their own animal that they could take the form of.

It was forbidden for a Kami and a human to ever be together, but a young and rebellious female Kami named Asha had fallen in love with a human boy called Rosseo. Up until this point, a Kami had never had such physical contact with a human. After becoming pregnant with a Halfling child, Asha and Rosseo's secret relationship had been discovered. The other Kami beings were outraged by what they considered an abomination, and barbarically murdered both Asha and her unborn child.

On the night of the full moon, Rosseo learned of Asha's death and became enraged and bloodthirsty for revenge. Combined with Asha's leftover magic and his own hatred for her murderers, he was transformed into a terrible beast that represented both Asha's animal form, and Rosseo's human self. However, a human cannot withstand the powerful magic of a supernatural being, and thus Rosseo was consumed by magic and his hatred. He became a magical being himself, but lost all human consciousness when he transformed into his hideous and monstrous state on the night of the full moon – the night he discovered Asha and his child's death. There was no difference between friend and foe, and the very passion that had once driven him to avenge his Beloved, was the same passion that ended up turning against him, and killing not only his other loved ones, but many innocent others as well.

Those who lived from Rosseo's attacks had been infected with his magical blood of hatred and malice, and were cursed to suffer the same fate as Rosseo. Rosseo and the newly created beasts are what became later known as werewolves. The curse of the werewolves was destined to last until the blood of Asha's murderers had been spilled, or until all the remaining werewolves were completely wiped out.

No one knows what happened to the werewolves, for they suddenly disappeared after a time. Perhaps they could still exist, living in the wilderness away from humanity – afraid to hurt anyone; afraid to BE hurt. What IS known however, is that werewolves did not originate from witchcraft or a demonic force. Werewolves are simply the victims of a tragic tale of love from long ago.
