For the about me contest: [link]-I really love butterflies. Definitely my favorite insect, and one of my fave creatures.
-I've always loved things that glow in the dark.
-I love nature, that's the forest represents.
-I love designing dresses.
-Green/blue is my favorite color scheme.
She was originally going to have black hair, but with a black background it didn't work out.
Took about two days, mostly to CG.
I linearted traditionally, but it came out so badly I redid it in SAI.If you wish to critique, please tell me about improving technique.

Hair? Better or worse? Tips?
Dress shading: Sucky or no? Should I have kept the lineart on the wrinkles and stuff?

Sorry im a bit short of time, but here is a small review:
I like the concept of the drawing, especially the glowing butterflies and how they are drawn. It's really good that you put the glowing colors on the girl's shadowing and not jsut for hte butterflies.
My biggest concern is how the dress is colored. I have a hard time figuring out how the dress's flow is. It looks more like a multi color dress instead of a blue dress. Perhaps you should define the shading of the dress more. The green lights on her cheeks seem awkward. If that butterfly on her hand is to glow on her face, then the green lighting should be a curved shape like a "n" and not like an "u" (the lips and the nose should have green also). It may be easier just to get the cheeks' green off from the picture.

ooh its so nice XD I think its a good concept for the theme of that contest. I think the hair looks really nice, just keep working on that technique and I think if you extended those lines from her bangs all the way to a crown at the top, it'll look more solid. The colours and way you chose to shade the dress are good, but instead of pencil lines, sometimes making a messy layer to roughly draw out where the shadows will lie and in what density can help. When I do that it helps me to create sharp shadows that don't need pencil lines and still look like folding

i really like this one! i am usually drawn to the darker side of art, but i find myself liking this piece. it's amazing how the little butterflies are illuminated. i'll admit the head/hair is just a bit off, but that's barely noticeable! great job!

um it seems kinda like the hair is maybe a little bit too high, so it makes the head look a little too large and in a way distorts the image...not that noticeable though, great job. (i don't usually critique, so idk how to put it rly...)

Um? Well I think the hair is WAAAAAAY better. I mean seriously. It's great. Love the shading on the dress. I think maybe to define the glowing reflection a bit more, maybe intensify it on the edges of the skin and clothing.
Again, I would suggest deepening the shadow on her skin, she IS in a dark forest after all, and the parts not lit by the butterflies would be pretty dark.
The leaves in the BG are a little too bright green, a good idea might be to grey them up a bit to match the trees. And think about making them more leafy and less blobby, maybe make the outlines of the leaves sharper and not so round. And darkening the edges of the BG would help make the character stand out more, since she would appear to be glowing, and that would work nicely with the glowing butterflies.
Oh and I love the butterflies, by the way.
