I'm not sure what the final fate of this piece is going to be yet. This was part of my contest prize from stitchingpirates and Mattsma , my very first Mill Hill kit. Of course, being as I am, I changed it up a bit here and there...

The original had a tea pot on the front of the little awning there and the sign read "Tea Shop" or some such. The tea pot looked really unaligned with the rest of the piece so I took that off there, and since I didn't want "Tea Shop" up there I left the sign blank for an extra few days while I put it to my buds on facebook to vote for some different words. This proved more confusing than I intended since this is stitched on paper and that means I can't use any partial stitches. I should've planned the text out in advance so I couldn't made the sign a square or two longer but ehhhh so it goes.

Mill Hill uses a different set of beading techniques than the Mirabilia method, no surprise there. The size 11s were attached by doing just one half stitch across and the size 15s were attached by making an X through the bead. Very tedious work, making X's through beads instead of over them. But different methods give different effects!

All in all I'm really pleased with this though and will definitely be on the lookout for more Mill Hill kits to catch my eye. The pattern itself is well made on top of their quality materials, and of course we all know how I feel about combining cross stitch with beads.
