Description

Yayyyyy fourth set! Why wait! This time I'm converting Elsa, her sister Anna, and the often-forgotten Kidagakash (or just "Kida"). Hannah-Alexander was super awesome and gave me permission to do ALL eighteen of her princess redesigns so yeaaaaaaaaahhhh~~~

Pre-Orders are being taken: you don't need to give me any money up front, it is simply to reserve your copy. I write your name down in a slot and when they're ready you'll get a personalized Etsy Listing. Solo princesses are $20, the set of three is $55. Just tell me you want to be written down. www.etsy.com/shop/pinkythepink

This is a Work In Progress and does not reflect the final product. This deviation will be moved into scraps when the next WIP is posted.

Currently:
All are approximately 24 inches tall on 18 count.
Elsa: 30 colors, 5 hours 32 minutes
Anna: 41 colors, 9 hours 6 minutes
Kida: 31 colors, 6 hours 1 minute

I picked these three our for this set for a couple reasons. First off being, yeah, Frozen was an alright movie, but I'm not in love with it, and I know that if I put Elsa and Anna into separate sets I'm going to have to deal with the rabid fans twice. It's cool, man, love what you love. But the amount of people who think I'm Hannah (yes, hi, I see you there! Hannah is not me! Hannah is Hannah-Alexander !) is getting to me and the amount of people on top of that who don't understand what cross-stitch patterns are is another pile of patience for me. So, Elsa and Anna are together. And I'm ready to put money down that a lot of the Frozen fans are totally unaware of Kida, poor, forgotten Kida. By putting Kida in with the set I am pretty much assuring she won't be forgotten about when people are pattern shopping. It also helps that the three of them are sorta 'water' themed and the blues really work together, yeah, you know, pretty much all around a good gathering.

So basically I thought that Elsa was going to be the tough one because Elsa is Elsa but as it turns out I believe Elsa will be the easiest of this set. And then I thought, "Anna? Anna won't be so bad!" Uhm, so, yeah about that, Anna uses basically a bunch of really dark shades of navy for a lot of her sections (outline, glove, bodice, bottom of skirt) but they're all... like... different shades of really dark navy so it's making it REAL DIFFICULT to pick appropriate thread colors that don't argue with each other. But I'm pushing through it, guys... I'm pushing through it. I think the top of her bodice might be 504 and blending that down into 939 is really challenging to match Hannah's original art but IT'S HAPPENING.

Okay so: Kida. Kidagakash. The amount of layers on her skirt. Let's just look at that for a moment, together. The amount of difficulty in isolating all the little areas her fabric overlaps is... aaaagggghhh. There's so much going on! She has her bodice jumpsuit thing, her sleeve dangles, skirt from her waist with white beads, and a secondary skirt panel at the front with red beads and embroidery. And all of this has to somehow make sense when I do it. There's going to be a lot of perception and illusion tricks in the end to make it look right, I hope you'll all be patient with me as I smooth it out.

They will be limited edition just like the first three sets.

I really like the Elsa one. Β I even like the extra details you put in her hair, even though the focus is supposed to be on the dress. Β It's the little details like that that make a piece well.

Thanks, but I'll have to direct you at Hannah-Alexander for designing her that way. I'm just converting them into cross-stitch patterns.

And she did great, but that doesn't mean you didn't do a good job of the cross-stitch! Β I don't even know how you can do something like that in only 5 and a half hours. Β I feel like it would take me several days to even draw and color that, much less do something like cross-stitch in such detail.

I can't even begin to imagine the amount of thought you're putting into creating these beautiful patterns! These ones look like they're coming along very nicely, and all of your work is making me REALLY want to pick up xstitching... so maybe one day I'll be able to do something half as incredible as your work!

Keep up the awesome job! (And try to ignore all the ignorant people on this website haha)

It is probably more thought process than needed, haha, I get too focused on the little details sometimes.
Thank you so much! If you ever want to start you know where to look, I'm happy to help.

Haha I completely understand your struggle, I also overwork myself
to try and make my projects as close to "perfect" as possible

And I would love some tips! Any basic projects you could suggest,
I would be very grateful

I know that these patterns that you're makingΒ are limited edition,
so I was thinking I might buy a set of three as a goal forΒ what I
would eventually want to do...
(because Disney princesses will always beΒ cool! But also because
it will take quite a while before I'm ready for a project of that
scale, and I wouldn't want it to be all sold out! D: )

I was wondering though, if I wanted to buy the patterns for 3
different princesses from 3 different sets, would I be able to do
that for the set price of $55? I know you mentioned above about
custom Etsy orders, but I'm not 100% sure if that's what you
had in mind Β

Ahhh! The most basic projects are of course the starter kits: www.google.com/search?sclient=… There's, naturally, plenty of other places to pick, but I've always seen those and thought they were a good idea.

I totally understand not wanting to dive in right away. @_@ It's part of why I encourage people to buy em now and hoard them until they feel they're ready.

I would love to do that for you but the deal I have with Hannah and the way I do my signatures would make it somewhat of a logistical problem to take three from separate sets and making a new set. Buuuuttttt. That doesn't mean we can't work out perhaps a coupon for $5 if you were going to pick from the first two sets (since my setup for the third set and on is really different).

MsMoores In reply to pinkythepink [2016-07-24 00:23:59 +0000 UTC]

Thank you so much! I'll definitely be checking
those starter kits out later this summer
I hope that buying the patterns will give meΒ
inspiration to continue improving my skills c:
(As a graphic design student, I'm a bit obsessedΒ
with finding new mediums and techniques, because
you never know how it'll help!)

And I would definitely pick three princesses from theΒ
first two sets! (And, honestly, probably buy some more
when the other sets are finished haha)
The only thing is, it's not super clear on your Etsy shop which
of the three sets is the newest/ the one that wouldn't beΒ
included as part of the options. Could you clarify that for me?

Thank you!!!

You're welcome! You're right, the Etsy shop is pretty unclear about it, I tend to keep things more organized here on DA. The first two sets are:

Thank you very much! Definitely going to look into buying a set soon
(Probably the set with Rapunzel, Belle, and Merida)
There are still several princesses that I would also be interested in purchasing
patterns for, so I look forward to those in the future!

(Sorry!! I just looked through your gallery and
realized that the Tiana, Ariel, and Aurora one isΒ
the latest set. In which case, I'd probably have
to decline the coupon because I really wanted the
pattern for Tiana haha. I'll just buy the individual
princesses as they come out, I don't want to make
anything too complicated for you!!)

Kida is one of my top favorite Disney princesses. I loved the history behind her and her culture. Not only that, she's an awesome fighter and leader. It sucks that she isn't as well recognized as the other Disney princesses.

As for this Mucha pattern, it's very beautiful and regal. I've always had a thing for draping fabric, but I can understand how difficult it is. I need to develop enough patience to draw every single fold. That's what I envy about you and artists like Hannah. You are willing to go through it to make the patterns presentable. I'm pretty sure that Hannah has put a lot of sweat and blood into all the Mucha designs.

Keep it up. I know you can!
