this started off as a geology class doodle of Merychippus, which for those of you who forgot sophomore biology, is the 3 toed ancestor of modern equids.

anyway, I used *minimal* reference much to the chagrin of my professors HA!!!! and then did an image search after the fact and found out that the reconstructions of merychippus look nothing like this XD basically a wonky pony with 3 toes. but i still love my mutant, almost-horse.

I guess I was trying to go more primitive....a lot of Kiang, Takhi and somali wild ass went into the conceptualisation.

anyway, my [geology] professor thought it was cool.

AND THEN CAME THE BABY!!!!
