Description I've seen state-tans all over the internet, but this is my own take on Georgia, one of the original thirteen colonies. This is Jas (James) Sinclair. Now imagine him saying that name in a low, long, Southern, gentlemanly drawl. Hngh.

I like him. c:

-----

All 13 colonies developed the same strong position defending the traditional rights of Englishmen which they feared London was violating. Georgia and the others moved rapidly toward republicanism, which rejected monarchy, aristocracy and corruption, and demanded government based on the will of the people. In particular, they demanded "No taxation without representation", and rejected the Stamp Act in 1765 and all subsequent royal taxes. More fearsome was the British punishment of Boston after the Boston Tea Party. Georgians knew their remote coastal location made them horribly vulnerable.

In August of 1774 at a general meeting in Savannah, the people proclaimed, "Protection and allegiance are reciprocal, and under the British Constitution correlative terms...the Constitution admits of no taxation without representation." Georgia had few grievances of its own but ideologically supported the patriot cause and expelled the British.

-----

Jas is a stereotypical Southern gentleman, meaning that while he respects women to the utmost, he is rather misogynistic and disapproves of seeing them in relatively high positions, particularly compared to his own. Being the deepest of the Deep South, Sinclair is commonly alienated and finds discomfort in that fact, resenting the bullying tactics of the Northern states; most especially North and South Carolina, who tend to team up in Congress and push the entire South towards their own decisions.

Unbearably polite and unfailingly courteous, offering the best of Southern hospitality to visitors with the tip of his hat and an invitation to afternoon tea on the plantation, Jas sees slavery as a necessary evil. While he is aware that the South would not survive without the slave trade, his dallying conversations with the representative Doctor Lyman Hall in Congress have culminated in the conclusion that even though the people have a voice in Congress, it is ultimately the representative that must make the decision as to what is right.

He dislikes Edward Rutledge to the umpteenth power.
But that should be a given.

I DON'T KNOW BUT THEY SOUND SO DELICIOUS, Y/Y?

I am also something of a sucker for historical accuracy...I love it. 8I But I'm glad I'm not the only one. I like Jas, though; I felt as though my state deserved some justice done to him, since a lot of state-tans of Georgia make me go WTF. xD

I SAY YES. <3
That's what I'm trying to do with my province-tan OC Yeahhh... I can see where you're coming from. A lot of state/province-tans that I've seen make me make this face: >8T
It also helps that I love period dress and your drawing style. (Mainly, I love the fact that it's leaning towards more semi-realistic than the typical "moe" style that most other people use for the Hetalia characters. I like Himaruya's style well enough, but it's nice to get away from that once and a while.)

VOTE YES. YES FOR INDEPENDENCY.

I just see a lot of state-tans that all appear the same. They're all grumpy at someone or other, and their appearances are mostly built on things relevant NOW, rather than the actual history. The last Georgia I peered at was a GA Bulldogs fan and drank Coca-Cola all the time. Not that Jas wouldn't do so eventually, but sometimes I just like some goshdarn HISTORY from the PAST in there. *cough* <_<

Moe-squish style just gets...old...after a while. I can appreciate it and all, and there are times when I enjoy it, but Y'KNOW SOMETIMES I LIKE MY MEN TO BE MANLY. xD

Buhhh. I know what you mean. It's really hard to imagine him doing that, actually. xD He just looks so... dignified in this picture. HISTORY IS THE IMPORTANT PART.

Yeeeahhh. :U I get that, I really do. I SECOND THE MOTION FOR MANLY MENNN. /unff

I think I might draw him throughout the years...like little vignettes into Georgia history to show how he changed visually, physically, and in personality. Right now, he just looks like he wants you to have a mint julep and kick back with him. xD

HNGH SO MANLY x3

Red hair is for Georgia red clay.
Mole is because...I needed something break up the empty space and it amused me.
Last name....well. I'm gonna be honest, I tried really hard to find a more suitable last name, but it was period-accurate and sounds so nice with a drawl. <_<
