Why is there no one imagining the Pimpernel vs. The Black Tulip (Alain Delon)?

oohhh god. Scarlet Pimpernel, my childhood hero. ;w;
You capture him beautifully, and yes, we all know he's as arrogant and smug as he pretends to be as Sir Percy.
(I also need to read the first four books again, cause I miss Percy. ;^; )

Thank you!! Yes, you do need to get on those books again! Me too, actually, it has been a while since I've read any Pimpernel as well.

I love Percy. I used to think of him as the swashbuckling hero that would come and save me when I was having a nightmare. But I was like... seven years old. what was I supposed to know about fictional characters being fictional? XD
*goes to library to get more Pimpernel*
Wait. I can just ask my mom to bring them from home. :T What am I thinking? xD

Ohhh, yes, he is.
I wish my favorite fictional characters were real... ffff....

'Smug'...well, you've pretty much captured that perfectly. Looks pretty good to me!

haha, thank you! Yeah, I love the bits with Perce and Chauvelin, Percy is so silly!

Oh Percy, you fabulous, magnificent bastard. He's such a fop, he's one of my biggest literary crushes. This picture is just so him.

Haha, "magnificent bastard". Best description of Sir Percy EVER.

I stole it from my former Prime Minster, as they said "his supporters had to admit he was a bastard, and his enemies had to admit he was magnificent". I always liked that one.

I must admit, this line in the play had me rolling -- though "our" Percy had his back to the audience when it was said. I wish he'd been facing us, for I can totally see this expression on his face during the delivery.

DetectiveMel In reply to kittybirg [2009-03-12 11:32:00 +0000 UTC]
Well I pretty much imagine his expression would just be smug and annoying (but in a really hillarious way!) Oh, Percy.

COMMENTING AGAIN B/C THAT CRACKED ME UP SO MUCH.
"BEST WISHES?? LIKE IDK GUYS HOW DO WE PUT THIS?"
Oh my God everyone in that play was so good looking. If I ever see it with a different cast they had better be just as pretty if not prettier.

Yeah I knew you would like that bit. He's so sarcastic and mean sometimes, I love it.
And then before The Creation of Man when Elton says he likes the silly outfits:
"It's quite... summery"
[pause] "Elton, you frighten me sometimes".

LOL That was amazing! That actor had awesome deliveries on all of his lines.

He does some great improv too. Like in that one, he drops his cane ("sometimes they have a personality all their own"). And there's a bit during The Creation of Man when somebody accidently drops their hankerchief and he goes to pick it up and gives him such an amazing feigned look of disappointment, it cracked me right up.

Is he in heaven? Is he in hell? That demmed elusive Pimpernel?
Thank you for bringing this piece of awesome into the world. Not enough Scarlet Pimpernel in the world.

I'll get to work on Chauvelin then. I always love a good villain.

He is a hottie. <3
Never got around to reading this one, either, though at the moment I'm determined to read Hunchback. I miss the huge amount of time I spent reading Les Mis and I need more Victor Hugo in my life. Me and my friends watched Disney's Hunchback to ring in the New Year (alongside WALL-E, which I now cannot stop watching) I KNOW IT'S RANDOM LOL. I think we all love Frollo just a little bit. We called him Froyo, like Frozen Yogurt...

DetectiveMel In reply to Meketaten [2009-01-01 23:32:33 +0000 UTC]
Well I've actually just finished the first one - it's not very long at all. You should get around to reading it sometime though! Or just watch the musical LOL.
But yes, read Hunchback! It's one of my favourites. And you'll appreciate the film even more (like that is even possible in any way shape or form).
Frollo is amazing because of Tony Jay, he's my hero.
OH MAN, and, I spent christmas watching WALL-E, what a cute film.

Meketaten In reply to DetectiveMel [2009-01-07 17:24:40 +0000 UTC]
Wall-E is the bomb. So is Tony Jay. If the two were ever together crazy things would happen.
As soon as I get a free minute I'm totally raiding the library of all things Hunchback.

Unfortunately. DX I just never got a liking to the story. The Count of Monte Cristo sounded interesting; it also happens to be sitting in my "Needs to Be Read" pile. How is it?

It's good, but I'm a lousy reader and I honestly haven't touched it since I went to Paris which was like 5 months ago or something. I absolutely love the french mini-series with Depardieu so I guess I'm also projecting some of that into the book as I read, which probably isn't good.

Ah, languages in general fail me. I did a bit of Italian when I started uni but I was so terrible at it.
It was the first time I'd been to Disneyland so it was exciting, but I couldn't at all walk that day because, stupidly, I killed my feet the day before walking all around Paris hunting out Hugo-related locations!

I seem to catch on fairly quickly, but I utterly fail at speaking them. DX
Where all did you manage to go?
๐: 0 โฉ: 1
DetectiveMel In reply to DarthPooky [2009-01-01 23:49:58 +0000 UTC]
I basically went everywhere, but I was cocky! I tried to walk most places when I should have used the metro - or just spread the hunt out over a few days instead of doing it all in one!
I wrote a couple of long and boring accounts though.
