Out of all the incarnations, I would say their silly banter is best in the musical. That, or the book of course!

The banter is one of the key sources of humor in the musical, and points of humor in any dramatic story are crucial to a well-rounded plot.

I don't know who you have seen in the musical, but Douglas Sills apparently ad libbed a lot of the time, which is what makes it more hillarious. I pity anybody who had to play Chuavelin next to him, because I would never be able to keep a straight face.

No official performances sadly; one of the high schools in the area did it when I was in 8th grade. Luckily our city has amazing drama departments, so it was done pretty darn well...not that I've seen it anywhere else so I really can't compare it to anything.
