Haven't been following the comments and descriptions of Kaite(Katie?) but is she undergoing ghoulification or is it just burn wounds?

she has spots that are irradiated. So she's like, half a ghoul. I think that's how it is, anyway.

Half ghoul? Means she has to undergo a ghoulification process that is slow rather than instant.
No one in the Fallout universe can be half-ghoul forever, at some point they will mutate into a full ghoul.
Unless of course she finds a cure, the world of Fallout is big after all, as big as Earth+1 actually, so it might be possible.

I guess she could be slightly irradiated, but her 'rough' spots came from her parents who were mostly ghoul and she became a "miracle" child, seeming that ghouls are sterile in the first place. Sure she could eventually become full ghoul, but that's not in my story at the moment, Kaite is just a random creation to be in the Fallout universe, she isn't meant to be a perfect oc with all the explanations in the world. (:
