I love this so much! ;_____; The colors are beautiful! So well blended! Love how you drew the feathers on the chest in different directions, looks very realistic to me.Β Β I really started liking birds more in the last few years and made myself a seagull 'sona. ;D I need lots of practice drawing wings and feathers though~Β
Since you invited folks to share our bird art in your description, I will shamelessly show you some of my stuff;
Β Β Β
Β I have a few favorite birds but I like seagulls the most! I'm obsessed with the beach - every day I watch a beach webcam that I keep bookmarked and I often listen to stuff like "sounds of beach waves and seagulls" on YouTube for background noise. I think about the beach every day, even as soon as I wake up, like it's calling to me. My boyfriend and I are saving money to move to the beach either via building/buying our own Tiny House, RV, or finding a decent affordable apartment by the sea. I'm working hard to improve my work and do more commissions so I can squirrel away most money into our savings. I want to be a full-time artist!Β Β
Β The last drawing from above (from late 2014) is showing how I feel, or how my seagull 'sona feels. I have lived in the same city (NY State, USA) my entire life and I'm tired of it. Around here we have what people call "garbage gulls" - Β seagulls that hang around parking lots and fast-food restaurants. I live here but I feel like I don't belong here, and I daydream of the sea constantly.Β

Your character is very cute. And I can relate to the longing to the beach. Except I'm a forest person. 3 years ago I moved from a ranch to a city and I really don't feel like I belong here. No trees, no grass, no birds singing. It makes me feel more gloomy than it should. I just got used to being around animals, working on crops and the four season each year.
Good luck moving close to shore!

My favorite birds are either peacocks or birds-of-paradise. Also, greenish-yellow blurs are a very good background, compared to me just using stock photos or single-color fill.

It's relatively small. It was done on A4 paper but I didn't fill it up all so It could fit in a large envelope I had to send.

I could work on bigger canvas and the picture would look more clean but even on smaller canvas it takes weeks. I just keep using really sharp pencils.

This is a wonderful and beautiful piece of work! I think the background compliments the bird, leaving more focus on the robin than on the background. The feathers and water have a very nice volume and the shading is extraordinary. Wonderful work again, I look forward to seeing more of your artwork!
My favorite birds are crows and ravens. They're beautiful and so gorgeous! I actually have many drawings of ravens and birds, but I don't have them stored on this computer. I also love hummingbirds. They're very beautiful creatures with an amazing wing-beat rate!
