Thank you so much! I was feeling rather relaxed and happy when I drew this, so I'm happy that those feelings leaked through.
I used Paint Tool SAI for this, so if you want to get this sort of painting effect, I highly recommend that program (and have a tablet too). Basically, before I even considered colouring this, I decided that I wanted a nice summer evening theme that mixes in with Byakuran (namely purple and white) - it's things like this that help me to decide which colours I'm going to use throughout the painting. Next, I changed the lines (which were originally black) to purple, in keeping with the whole Byakuran link, before starting the background - this (the background) helps to set the tone for the whole piece as the colour(s) used here help to influence what other colours you use. Also, if you're colouring digitally, then it doesn't matter if you do the background first, or if set the line colour because you can always "blind" the layers, and do some editing later.
To do the background, I filled in an entire layer with a sort of medium greyish blue (it's summer, so I reasoned the evening sky wouldn't be that dark) before applying light orange, burnt orange and purple to that same layer at gradual intervals. One of the wonderful things about SAI is that it's designed to blend as soon as you apply some colours (unlike GIMP and photoshop), so you don't have to waste time blurring or anything.
After that, I started focusing on painting Byakuran. I find it rather beneficial to colour each part (e.g. skin, hair, top, shoes etc) on different layers, and sometimes some parts will have multiple layers, although that wasn't the case this time (it depends on the style of colouring, and how lazy I'm feeling). Using the airbrush, I set down some base colours (e.g. light mauve for the hair, medium blue (sorry, I don't know the technical name. OTL) for the hoodie etc), but made sure that it wasn't blocked in - if you zoom in, you'd actually see that there are places where the background colour subtly shines through. Also, you'd see that my tidying up is very roughly done too, just like my lines. OTL
For the skin, clothes, wings and shoes, I switched to using a brush - this is not the same for the hair, where I continued to use the airbrush. Can't really say much for how I coloured, the hair, other than I used a shade of purple, which was both darker and a different hue from the original base colour, and painted it whilst keeping mind of the flow of the hair. Normally I'd use more than one shade to highlight/shade the hair, but the way the background shone through made me decide that adding another shade would be too much. For the skin, I used three shades, starting with a light peach, and gradually getting more deeper and towards a light burnt orange on the colour wheel.
The clothes, wings and shoes are actually comprised of four colours each: the base colour, shade (darker version of the base in a slightly different hue), a themed shadow (which I used a highly saturated electric blue), and a themed highlight (which was also the darkest shade I used on the skin, and one of the shades in the sky). Can't really say how I painted them, other than the themed highlight was added on a separate layer for no particular reason, other than I was experimenting.
The roof uses the same concept as the clothes, except I negated the use of the themed highlight, simply because I didn't want it to stand out, as well as for logical reasons. Actually, I just noticed that I forgot to add in his shadow... OTL
The clouds, on the other hand, are simply random cloud shapes lightly painted on with two shades of lightly saturated pink (the background makes them come across as various different colours). The stars were random dots I made using the pencil tool, and the colour white (I'd actually recommend using a shade with some colour in it, rather than white or black, as these can dull the rest of the colours if you're not careful). Lastly, I created a layer about the lines, set the layer mode to luminosity (apart from the layer with my credit, this is the only layer that made use of layer modes), and lightly painted over the wing area. Unfortunately, the colour I used was so lightly added, I can't check what shade it was! OTL
Sorry for the wordiness, but that's generally how I coloured this. Also, it wasn't a bother in the slightest - I'm very happy that you were curious enough to ask!

Oh I used to use that program! I actually have some tutorials in my gallery for making brushes for GIMP, and the artistic brush is what I use whenever I'm using GIMP to colour (which isn't that often these days, but I always managed to create a nice effect using it).
