Description Once upon a time there was a young maiden of the Haida Gwaii people. She had an evil step mother and two evil step sisters. And while she was of the noble class, she was forced to do all the work for her step mother and sisters.

One day a young nobleman from a neighbouring tribe announced that he would hold a potlatch to find his bride. The young maid wished to go but her step mother forbid her to attend. The night of the potlatch the maiden (by the name if Cinderella) was visited by the Raven. The trickster gave Cinderella a gown of the finest white deerhide, stole a portion of the night sky to fashion her button blanket and roped the moonlight in her belt. But the most magnificent gift were the moccasins made of starlight that the Raven fashioned from two bright stars for Cinderella to wear.

"Be home before the moon crests," the Raven warned, "for at that time my gifts will return to their place in the heavens"

My entry for the first challenge of Centre Stage put on by

Or task was to create two designs for a new Broadway production of Cinderella. Aside from being a musical we were given free reign to reinvent the classic. In addition to designing a dress for Cinderella and one other character (Fairy Godmother, Evil Stepmother, or Prince Charming) we had incorporate the influence of a design from a fellow contestant into the designs. We had to include elements of one of their designs along with using only the colours from that design.

I was paired with Please go check out her gallery. My particular design can be found here [link]

I will post seperate deviations of each costume with detailed descriptions for the sake of saving this getting way too long. Please if you have any questions about my concepts for the show.

I really like what you did with this! It's a great new take on Cinderella. I particularly love the Raven's design, with the wings and the mask. I think it would look good on the stage.

Great adaptation of both inspirations.

And I love the moccasins.

Thank you... the moccasins were created after a bit of a panic attack because for whatever reason I didn't think about the shoes until after I had everything else designed. I'm just really glad that I came up with some kind of solution.

Thank you but the design is actually for the fairy godmother. I went with a bit of a different vision for the characterization of the characters. I can totally see where the costume would fit with the stepmother as well.
