Description Out of the reserved US Navy units, five PCE-827s were transferred to the Philippines as part of the US Military Assistance Program in 1948. They were intended to build the Philippine Navy following the US withdrawal of its sovereignty over Philippines in 1946 and to mature into the blue water navy. 

PCE-827 is a family of PCE-842-classes of Patrol Craft, designed to perform open ocean and convoy escort duties, while simultaneously freeing-up some larger vessels from ASW and coastal patrol duties.

The ship's speed was 5.7 kn (29.1 km/h; 18.1 mph) with the range of 8,500 nmi (15,700 km; 9,800 mi) at 12 kn (22 km/h; 14 mph)

Armaments were: 1 × 3"/50 caliber gun, 6 × Bofors 40 mm guns (3 twin mounts), 4 × 20 mm guns and 1 × Hedgehog anti-submarine projector Depth charges

5 ships were named Cebu (PS-28), Negros Occidental (PS-29), Leyte (PS-30), Pangasinan (PS-31) and Iloilo (PS-32) respectively, after Philippine Provinces.

By 1970s, 5 FRAM designed PCE-872 variant was also transferred to the Philippine Navy, including a  3"/50 caliber gun MK.34 and three 20 mm Oerlikon guns and four 12.7 mm general purpose machine guns were installed with ASW suite added to enhance the ASW capability.

These ships were later decommissioned in the 1990s in favor of the ex Royal Navy Peacock-class.
